you have a lot of Cub haters here, period.

it's still a looonnnggg way off, but they do look strong.

when they get in the playoffs...they, i'm sure will use the three man rotation.

as an avid Cub Fan these are great days.

time will tell..

i believe you always need alittle break (luck) here and there to win the ring..JMO:103631605

i'v got 4 tiks to the 23rd game... can't wait:aktion033

nice win today... Go Cubs

Yes, and I don't think it's really even debatable, assuming all are healthy.

Of course that doesn't guarantee anything.

I suppose depending on the off days it may shorten up at some point to a 3-man, but mostly I would see a 4-man. Harden wouldn't be throwing on 3 days rest, even in the playoffs.

True, i was just saying a first round situation.

Then see what happens as far as rest.

Hardin would be chommin' at the bit to throw.

Dempster

ERA 2.93
RECORD 12-5

Something like 10-1 in games at Wrigley.

Expect him to pitch 2nd in rotation to make sure he pitches a home game in the first series.

Won-loss record is probably the most useless, misleading baseball statistic out there. Dempster has pitched better than I expected, however. I still think the fall will come for him, though. Lilly sucks. You're stupid if you think he's deserving of a spot in a playoff rotation. I'd still take what the D-Backs are selling rotation-wise over the cubs- and it isn't close.
Besides, the "great" Lou Pinella will surely do something to fuck it all up like, I don't know, pull Zambrano early so he can start game four... Losers.

Answer honestly. Cubs playoff lives on the line, do you want Dempster on the mound?

Hell yeah.

And he is only the third best starter on the team.

It doesn't get much better than Marmol in the pen either.

i trust carlos zambrano in high pressure situations about as much as a i trust cc sabathia.

... and thats not very much.

both are great regular season pitchers but capable of imploding when times get tough.

give me webb and haren over any combo of cubs pitchers.

harden is the real deal but scares me because he throws too many pitches.
to be fair, the original post in the thread is best top 4 ... and cubs probably have it.
but i dont trust zambrano. i think other teams are better at top.

They are talented but who knows how they will pitch in the playoffs.. completely different than regular season, and inexperienced as well

I know you are talking about depth here, but a lot of times it comes down to how good your top two are and what they can do on short rest, and I would take Webb-Haren, Beckett-DiceK, Lackey-Santana over Zambrano-Harden.. and Kazmir-David Price might be a big wild card as well

Not sure I'd say inexperienced. They're basically all veterans and have all pitched in the postseason.

You might, but I wouldn't.
