-58.5 no problem hehehe wouldnt touch it myself. That is how high they had to put it to get peeps off of it. Good chance they cover but you never know and your not getting any room at 58.5 thats for sure.

    I will take Mali!

They will most likely be slowing up the game anyway. USA will NOT get to 100 in that game

Watching Mali right now. These girls have come a long way just to make their way into the Olympics. I give them their due on that. But they are beyond terrible.

54-24 mid through 3 against czech republic who lost to USA by 40

For the first time in my life -58.5 actually seems like a gift

No way I could take either side in this game. USA should destroy them, but no way in hell I'm giving nearly 60 points in a basketball game. Mali is terrible and just got destroyed by a bad CZE team, so no way I'd take them either.

USA could win 100-42 and you wouldn't cover. Not sure how anyone could take that bet.

usa only has 1 shooter in Taurasi, Mali was 4-0 ats in diamond ball. Leslie and Thompson are overrated dinosaurs, and they rape minutes from productive players like augustus and bird. also parker is a slob who isnt what she is made out to be

surely at some point there is mercy involved, and they dont press hard for the basket...

despite the fact that points matter for tiebreakers, I still think this has to come into play.

Im gonna watch closely, but now that the line has already moved 2 points I think I may be jumping on MALI very soon.

That is an excellent betting angle,

the other one in your Cuba / USA vollyball thread after the play was excellent as well....

    let me find it....

Here it is, this is another great betting anle:

Hind sight is 20-20...you must look at what you can lose, not at what you won... stop for a moment...look around and count your blessings..those couple bucks we won tonight were compliments of a group of women from an island in the caribbean no larger then the state of Texas...Odds are their families at home were not even able to watch the game due to poverty..

these girls are playing for the right to an extra gallon of milk for their families...the rights to some extra meat servings etc..they are God fearing woman who love and respect their mothers and say "Aye Dios Mio" several times a day..Lead by a communist dictator type coach approved by Fidel Castro himself, I was happy to see them get the win...they still have a long road ahead of them..

I was glad that Reggie Miller with a wig lookin MFer for the USA had an off night too...

    This was a good win...

Haven't bet on the Olympics yet. When I place wagers, I'd like to think I've got some sort of insight, angle, etc.

With the Olympics, who knows. Iceland +800. Is that a good line or not? How the hell am I supposed to know?

Other than Railbird, everybody is just guessing with their Olympic bets.

But I'm not sure if I can ignore Mali + 60'. I just want to have the story. "I bet on a team that lost by 57 points. And I still won the bet!"

To win the 2007 FIBA Africa Championship was totally unexpected for Mali. Since 1968, when the Mali women won a bronze medal in their first participation in the African event, they had failed to bring home another medal.

When Mali went into last year's FIBA Africa Championship in Dakar, they didn't know what to expect. What unfolded was incredible. Mali didn't just play well. They reached the title game against the tournament hosts and eternal rivals, Senegal. It got even better because José Ruiz's team, who had lost to Senegal earlier in the tournament, avenged that setback with a 65-58 victory! And by winning the event in the Stadium Marius N'Diaye - the venue for many of Senegal's successes over the years - the impact on Mali basketball was extraordinary. The president of Mali, Amadou Toumani Touré, offered to each player a piece of land and a house in Bamako, Mali's capital. Touré even promised the construction of a brand new arena to both the federation, and the basketball fans.

Following the great triumph, the president of the Malian Basketball Federation, Hamane Niang, became the country's Secretary of Youth and Sports and his first task was to build the new indoor gym of 5,000 seats to host the 2009 FIBA Africa Championship for Women.

This summer's experience for Mali will be their first ever in a top level international competition. It hasn't happened by accident, either, but as a result of a development program that started in the mid-nineties with a systematic participation of all youth competitions for Mali, something that is quite rare in African basketball. Each year, boys and girls enter FIBA Africa Youth competitions, and most of the time, they qualify for U19 and U21 FIBA World Championships. It was inevitable that this commitment at youth level would eventually pay dividends for the seniors.

Hamchetou Maïga-Ba will be the true leader of the "Amazons" in Beijing, since she is the only player with big experience at top European or WNBA level. Maiga played in the EuroLeague Women Final this season Gambrinus Brno and has been a WNBA player for many years. While the other Mali players do not compete for EuroLeague Women teams, or even first division outfits in Europe, each is talented and has played the game since childhood. And they are tall!

The National Team's most prominent players on the interior, Djene Diawara and Aminata Sininta, are extremely quick but could have a tough time because of their lack of experience in major competitions. Diawara sure made her presence felt at the 2007 FIBA Africa Championship where she poured in 11.1 points and grabbed 8.8 rebounds per game. Anything close to that in Beijing would be much appreciated by Ruiz.

To be at the Olympics for Mali is a big reward for the country's efforts for sports in general and basketball in particular. All of Africa will be hoping that Mali finds some success in China. Last year's great run in Senegal is still strong in the memory of everyone who follows the game. Mali blitzed the opposition, with the lone exception that early defeat to Senegal which they ultimately made up for by beating the same opponents in the final. Ruiz will have been reminded that four years ago, Nigeria beat Korea to clinch 11th place at the Athens Games. That was the first win for an African women's team at the Olympics. He and his players will be desperate to achieve something in Beijing.

    How did they qualify?

They were down 3 at half to China, were down 9 at half to Russia, were 21-21 vs Aussie in 2nd period. Game much more likely to land 51 than 71 imo. I make Mali a 60% chance to cover the 60. USA could cover, Aussie did cover with a 112-44 game, but that is becuz they went out slow. We actually need US to have an early lead. US doesnt have the scorers that Aussie does. Aus came out motivated coming out of ht. I dont think US will.
