Dear NBC,
How hard is it to figure out that fans of certain sports simply want to watch coverage of the events? I have either tuned in or taped each broadcast of the boxing events so far. I do not have high expectations of your broadcast but I do expect to see each bout in full. Instead of that we the viewers have been subject to bouts being skipped for inane filler or not shown because another fight is being repeated. I realize that you have determined to focus on American athletes but realize that there are many fans out there that just want the opportunity to see all of the competitors. Perhaps there will be a diamond in the rough that upsets his way to gold. The fact that he may be from Uzbekistan or Mongolia should not lessen the story, nor deprive us or seeing him.

My second point of contention is with the announcers. Not only are they ill prepared with their analysis (their failure to mention previous fights between contestants, their obvious reading of Olympic fact sheets), but they bring the term "beating a dead horse" to a new level. Is it really necessary for Teddy Atlas and Bob Papa to complain about the judges every single round of every single bout. I have broken records that do not repeat the same things as many times. Their alluding to cheating and the outright lie of no consequences for judges scoring is an insult to anyone that is familiar with the system. Perhaps they could focus on the positives like deserving winners actually being scored winners instead of trying to create drama or insinuate.

If you offered the option of no sound via the internet feed for boxing and showed all the bouts start to finish that would be a far better option than the product you are currently offering. There are still viewers out there that like the sport simply for the drama it pertains within and there is really no need to try and repackage your product and polish it up as you are simply diluting what should be a quality stand alone event.

Funny, I had half a mind to send them a similar email about their soccer coverage. I recorded two different blocks of coverage, one was 7 hours long and the other was about 4 or 5 hours. The first was to watch the US/NED game, the second to watch Italy's last game (forget who it was). 5.5 hours through the first block the US game starts and the game was in the 59th minute when the 7 hours ended. So, suitably pissed off I turn on the Italy block only to see that it is in the 59th minute and already 2-0. It's nice that they are showing things live, but the way they are chopping the coverage and packaging it makes it all but worthless.

I've watched four times as much coverage on the Canadian Channel. The stuff they show is at least live. I'll be honest with you. The Canadians do a tremendous job of covering their athletes and other countries as well.

I think I read something somewhere that the NBC analysts aren't even in China. They are watching and giving play by play from some skyscraper in New York.

That is only partially true. There are a ton of NBC broadcasters in China, but there is also a lot of raw footage that is purchased by NBC with no announcers, for that stuff they call the event from NBC Studios in NYC.

I called NBC during their French Open coverage. They were showing the Men's semis on Tape Delay on Friday morning at 11, instead live and interrupting the Today show.

The girl at NBC Sports said they were bombarded with calls. She said basically the Today show generates more money, so they weren't going to show the Tennis live.

I said then why don't allow ESPN or the Tennis Channel to show it and we can then decide if we want to watch it at 6 am or at 11 am.

I agree that they really don't care as much and they are a business and are going to run things to create the most revenues.

But they do have a feedback link on their site and I'd rather express my opinion than do nothing. If nothing else, it makes me feel better venting.

I started watching the taped broadcast and to be honest I had to turn it off. They showed the Warren bout and he lost. Simply, this kids is dumber than a box of rocks on an Oklahoma highway in the summer heat and he got beat.
Now they are crying about the judging and the scoring and then the coaching.
The Korean boxer beat him, plain and simple. There was no conspiracy, there was no fixed judging. End of story. He fought a better fight.

I have always liked Atlas because of his " genuine" attempt at sincerity..Always liked him!

But I also have always known he was an asshole..I constantly watch him on Wed and Fri night ESPN2 boxing and I see a different fighter winning then he does..He rambles on and on about quicker hands yet my guy is beating the other ****** to the punch every time..He miss judges fights more often than not..

NBC's coverage of the Olympics sucks. Literally everytime (except once) I switched over to NBC to catch a glimpse, and there was a TV ad on. I'm not surprised, it is just pathetic.

I respect Teddy's boxing knowledge. The problem is he truly cannot grasp the difference between amateur boxing and professional boxing. Max Kellerman forgot more than Teddy ever knew.

The complete fucking clown next to him should be kept in Beijing and sentenced to Chinese badminton telecasts for the rest of his life. My five year old nephew could provide better analysis than "he landed a punch, but it didn't score!" over and over and fucking over. Again, every single fight has seen the deserving winner get the decision. 10-2 is exactly the same at 50-10. There have been a few close fights but no bad decisions at all.

The scoring system is working yet they continually break it down and cry FIX FIX FIX. I guess they are hoping for a Chicken Little scenario when Andrade inevitably gets beat. Too fucking bad, you lost anyone with any knowledge of the sport.

Patently false. Just because the network shoves it down your throat doesn't mean there aren't thinking people out there that could give a fuck.

Sure the masses are sheep being led to the slaughter, but do you really think I'm rooting for Carmelo Anthony to go for the gold. Hell, he doesn't give a fuck, why should I?

And I applaud the excellence of Mister Phelps but the last swimming I watched was the stripper in my complex at about noon last Thursday. I don't even know if she did laps but watching her lotion up was infinitely more entertaining than Monseiur Phelps in a speedo.

Speaking of Max K., I remember watching a boxing show he had on Manhattan Cable public access TV in the early 90's (super low budget). You could tell he was a boxing expert then and had a certain personality for TV.

Max has a certain respect for the fighters and the sport that I don't think he would lower himself to the level that these broadcasters are at as well.

Teddy has an innate understanding for boxing but he is not exactly a bright guy. He's street smart and I really don't think he can comprehend the anomalies of the amateur sport versus what he is used to in the professional ranks. Coupled that with his broadcast partner, Howdy Fucking Doody, egging him on and he's like a helpless child backed into a corner with his unprepared comments.

This coverage is horrendous all around. Check out the sweet soccer coverage we get tomorrow. Final games of group stage to see who advances and we get literally nothing from the 8 channels Directv offers (NBC and 750-756)

Years ago we had 1 channel for the entire olympics..We should count our blessings
