While it seems that all Phelps all the time may be a tad overkill, what he's doing is historical as far as sports is concerned.
6 events, 6 golds, 6 world reocrds is over the top newsworthy.
Keep in mind, this Phelps-mania will die out after the closing ceremonies.

he deserves it, he worked hard for 4 straight years and gets to be in the star light for 17 days or so and then his fame will dim....I say give him his due while we can

can someone let me know, are they showing the Nadal-Djockovic match live on tv in the states? if so, ill take an early lunch around 11 and watch it at a bar. but we all know the coverage has been lame so far so i wouldnt doubt its not even being shown

the only thing i really watch the olympics for in Michael Phelps. i can care less for swimming, but since he is doing what he's doing i make sure i'm tuned in for every match. then after he wins i quickly turn back to the MLB package

I'm best friends with a guy who went to HS with Phelps.

Said he was the biggest dork/loser in school until he went to Sydney. After that the whole school hung on his nuts.

Wait, a swimmer in highschool was a dork, who wud of thunk it. I didnt even know my highschool had a swim team until I saw some loser wearing his swimming varsity jacket. You can also tell by his overzealous celebrations that he doesn't get laid much.

How you can not appreciate this story is beyond me? Can't you derive a little national pride from Phelps' domination? There couldn't be a better story...

Whats so good about this story, is he dying, was he poor growing up, was his mom a crack whore, so what, hes a good swimmer, woop dee doo, I throw my dog in the pool and he becomes a good swimmer too.
