cubs winning so often is the major reason.

And sharps seem to find the underdog plays where are also hitting well.

I wouldn't mind being a bookie booking baseball right now just because anyone who is playing anywhere other than Matchbook must be an idiot and I'd feel lucky to book their action. Although yeah, the Cubs doing good must be hurting them, not to mention the Mets resurgence...

I can't imagine the books are down for the season. Most betters get crushed in almost every sport, including baseball.

That's only 50 units. That is great, but I'm sure there are people on this site winning more than that. I don't know many peoples records so I couldn't say any names, but there has to be a few doing better than 50 units.

I have never seen a season where Joe Square has been cleaning up on a regular basis.

I am glad you posted this thread because I was thinking the same thing. I have always done well in hockey and college football but have always struggled to get anything done in baseball. This summer I have already collected over 7,000 which is good for me since the all-star break. I don't say this to brag as I consider myself just an average baseball bettor and lucky in some big games. I just figured if a guy like me has won that much then the good handicappers are cleaning up in bases.

No, it has not been a good year, throw that in with the last of the basket's season and it makes it double tough. I'm still going to get up in the morning and eat the same thing and play some Golf if time allows. It's never over till it's over and one sport doesn't a bad season make.As far as i'm concerned it's not my money until i quit, it is just on loan

I feel real bad for the bookies right now. Hope they pull through this tough stretch.

that's exactly what it is, but soon shall come the time for dogs to comeback or simply the transition from mlb to nfl will make everyone focus on a sport that is the heart of the united states

This baseball season has been no different from the last 3 or 4 from what i've seen.

Bookmakers in general are really bad about whining when they lose. I'm right there with'em too so don't take that the wrong way.

every few months, these kinds of threads pop up. i remember talking about the same thing a few different times with another poster (raven? maybe). as for baseball, its a moneyline sport. the same thing that pays the books is the same thing that breaks the books sometimes: favorites. theres no pointspread. theres no way to compensate for an overmatched team playing triple-A guys while another team is driving toward a postseason berth. in basketball and football, the line can get jacked. but in baseball, theres no way to level the playing field. so guys can act 'sharp' all they want. they can talk about 'betting against the public' all they want. you can have 100 guys on one side and 1 on the other side .... and thats not going to change the chances of the favorite winning. one popular lament is 'the favorites cant keep hitting like this, can they?' and the answer is 'yes. they can'. favorites are favorites for a reason - theyre better than the underdogs. and in baseball, that can make for a lot of streaks because theres no way for the books to 'level' the game being played.
