4 guys swim and qualify the team for the final , then 4 other guys take over . ???

who gets the medal ? all 8 guys ? just the 4 won the final ?

would assume only the 4 who swim the final . would suck to be replaced.

only the 4 who participate in the final get the medal.

At the last Olympics MP gave up his spot in a final so that another one of his teammates could medal.

The guys who are involved in qualifying I'm sure are happy to be part of the team.

Actually, I am 99% sure they all get medals. Same thing happens in the track relays. Only the guys who swim the finals get the medals presented during the ceremony and stand for the anthem.

They all get them. Phelps didnt swim in the Medley Relay final in Athens as he wanted to get Ian Crocker a gold as well. Phelps swam in the Prelim only.
