New MLB system:

If a team with a losing record wins 4 in a row (and still has a losing record), bet against them the next two games to win one unit. If a team with a winning record loses 4 in a row (and still has a winning record), bet on them the next two games to win one unit. Similiar to the home chase, if they win/lose the first one, the chase is over.

Sounds simple enough and it is. Since the All-Star Break the record is 16-1 with the first loss coming this past Tuesday when Houston beat SF. It may have went 17-0 if Lincecum had not taken a line drive off his knee, but that's how it goes sometimes.

I've been playing chase systems for years and losing. However, since this is only two games at a time, and the winning percentage has been great thus far, it is going well. Another good thing is that the majority of the plays are underdogs or small to medium favorites.

For record keeping purposes, we will attempt to win one unit on every chase. We do have a play tonight:

Phillies (-120) at Padres (Moyer vs Maddux)

$120/$100

The Phillies were just swept by the Dodgers in a 4 game series and will look to bounce back tonight.

Good luck! Will update record later tonight and if there is a possible play tomorrow.

The Phillies came through for us (barely) and we didn't have to chase a second game. That now brings the system record to 17-1 since the All Star Break. I know only one play has been documented thus far. I will attempt to document all of the other plays in this system since the All Star Break, so you know I'm not lying.

Unit record and plays will be updated later.

There are no plays today. There are currently no losing teams with 4 game winning streaks and no winning teams with 4 game losing streaks today. There may be a few plays tomorrow depending on how the day transpires.

No, I haven't looked at that angle. Are you referring to winning teams on a winning streak of 4 games?

I don't necessarily think it would have been a bad play, but I did not take the Rangers tonight.

I recall recently that a few weeks ago there was a similar situation with the Tigers being 1 game below .500 and losing 4 games. Well, they ended up losing the next two against the White Sox. Luckily, I did not put $$$ on the Tigers, although I was tempted. After that result, I decided I'm just going to stick with teams above .500.

Finally, a play (8/20)

The Rockies who have a record of 58-69 are currently on a 4-game win streak. Playing against them:

Dodgers (-200) to win one unit.

Unfortunately, this is a high price to pay but that is not typical with this system. Good luck!

Rockies won again last night so we will go against them one more time.

Dodgers (-190) combined with yesterdays loss to win one unit.

Good luck.

The Dodgers held off the Rockies yesterday, so:

2-0 posted
18-1 overall since the all-star break

Tonight's play:

Play against the Indians (59-67) and their 4-game win streak.

Rangers (-123) - Carmona vs Harrison

Goodluck

For the 2nd series in a row, we have to do it the hard way. One more time (combine with yesterdays loss to win one unit):

8/23
Rangers (-135) - Sowers vs McCarthy

Good Luck!

Well, the Rangers blew a 6 run lead.

Unfortunately, the Rangers series is a loss, so we are moving on. Cleveland has been a thorn in the side of this system before. Remember their 4 game sweep of the Rays back in July dropping the Rays to a 7-game losing streak?

System is now 18-2 since the All-Star Break. If we're playing for a unit for each series, it would be +11.05 units.

I will be sticking with a two game chase, so today's game in Texas will not be a play for me.

Todays play (8/24) The sucky Giants at 57-72 are currently on a 4 game win streak. Luckily, we get to play on an underdog for the 1st (and hopefully only) play of the series.

Padres (+112) - Banks vs Correia

Goodluck!
