I'm sure if there is some sort of disaster with this, our President will respond in a swift fashion as has been demonstrated in the past..........Oh, sh*t, get the hell out of there.

Actually, they are saying that it should still be a Tropical Storm when it hits, so maybe a party is in order for you and your friends.:grandmais

Hence a "Tropical Storm party" may be in order.

Much ado about nothing. Wake me up if it becomes category 2 or higher. I'm on the dark blue dot on the east coast of FL.

Florida's lakes have been drying up for the past 10+ years, along with the underground aquifers. This rain is a blessing.

Funny, that's exactly what I was thinking.

So MAYBE it will hit the east coast of Florida and MAYBE it will be hurricane strength.

Big f'ing deal....yank, yank.

No panic yet at the Fish Hawk Publix. I saw one guy load up a cart with water, but other than that, water, batteries, and other stuff plentiful.

The Cat 1 that came in to galveston 2 weeks ago made people panic here in Houston water was out in the stores and gas stations had long lines. I don't think I had a leaf fall out of my trees. Good luck hope it is a small one.

You're absolutely right. Today the Everglades are half the size they were 100 years ago, all because of those canals they dug for development.

But most of the lakes are down primarily due to the lack of rainfall for the past 10-20 years. We need a decade of tropical storms to come fill 'em up.

There's been no particular lack of rainfall within Florida during the past two decades. Annual averages ebb and flow, but the median average has been consistent.

Fresh water levels are lower quite simply because the state has expanded civic water systems to the point where a lot more water is out of the lakes, rivers and streams and now contained within those systems instead.
