I usually stay in New Jersey and take a bus over. It is a lot cheaper than actually staying in Manhattan. MSG is just a few blocks from the port authority bus station that you'll be let off at. Nice, easy and cheap.

But coming for a visit, you want to be in the action, so stay in manhattan. There are some decent priced chain hotels, actually.

As far as restaurants, let me know what type of food and how much ya want to spend, I will let ya know!

Use priceline.com for cheap hotels. Looks like the show is on a wednesday, that's good, midweek you can get something good in midtown in the $120-150 range. Standard rack rates on websites will be in the $250-300 range. In NYC it doesnt really matter where you stay in the city anymore, everywhere in manhatten is equally convenient and safe for sightseeing.

For dinner, you might want to look into restaurants with prix-fixe (pronounced pre-fix) menues. They are quick dinners that start at about 5:30, and they are on top of their game to get you out to your theater show since most start at 8pm. Not sure when the concert starts, but they should be able to accomodate you.

If you're staying an extra day or two, and feel like walking over the brooklyn bridge, take the subway to Grimaldi's in brooklyn, eat the best pizza you'll ever have in your life, then walk back over into manhattan. http://www.grimaldis.com/brooklyn.htm

Enjoy man.

Yeah, use priceline or hotwire for hotel.

If you want steaks, it's Sparks, Morton's, Ruth Chris, Old Homestead or Frankie and Johnies.

For Italian it's Patsy's, hands down.

For drinks, send me an e-mail, BillsGirl and I would love to take a quick train in to buy a round or three.

SS-

I would stay in midtown and you won't be paying crazy. Definitely get good deals though sites listed above. If Jersey, stay in Weehawken and you can stay on the water with great NYC views and take the bus or ferry over in 10 minutes. I would have some drinks in Bryant Park and/or checking out some other local stuff. What type of food do you guys like? I could help anyway if you want.

Try to allow yourself at least a couple of free days to soak in the experience. MSG is at the corner of 7th avenue and 31st street, if I am not mistaken.

Stay somewhere in the vicinity and experience NYC for what it is. The theatre district is around 42nd I think, so anywhere between there would be good. I would tend to want to be more toward 31st.

Walk the streets, duck into the local bars, grab a slice and have a big time. You will never, ever, forget the experience.

I would also recommend Wolfgangs in midtown since you will be seeing DMB by there, its on 33rd and Park. Good steaks and drinks...BACON.

A lot of good places listed above, I too wouldn't mind meeting up with Mrs. Betallsports and buying a round or two. Will have to check if we are doing anything that week.

I second Wolfgangs for Steak. Former head waiter for Peter Luger started his own place. Same steaks as Luger, better atmosphere/service, etc. And they take credit cards.

Chinatown is downtown. Don't suggest it.
Food is great, but the locale is a tad inconvient, but it's next to Little Italy which is NYC personified.

Lugers is premium. Gotta take the LL to Brooklyn though.

9th of September or 11th of September would be an excellent night to meet up for drinks....

Of course the 10th might be more difficult due to the show.

Ive also been checking out Craigslist and seeing that there are many apartments one can rent in Manhatten for about $200 a night, with cable, internet and whatnot inccluded....

Im sure i will find something.

How much would a dinner for 2 and a bottle of wine go for?
