It was dumb because any kind of double would have tied the game. Dumb move pure and simple. You can't played scared in that situation but Rays got away with it.

It was all about matchups. Lefty hitter with huge home run power vs a righty pitcher....pass. Byrd was up next which provided the righty/righty matchup. Play the odds and it paid off.

I'm sorry to hear about the under bettors...talk about a sucky way to lose out of that one and for over players....merry xmas.

its exactly the same as walking him up 1 with nobody on base and 2 outs
infact its actually a little less than that since he cant steal second in this case-not a big deal at all

This was a great coaching move to intentionally walk Hamilton. Having seen the home run derby i'd walk him everytime.
