Former Yankees Pitcher Irabu Arrested in Japan for Assault

By Stuart Biggs
Aug. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Former New York Yankees pitcher Hideki Irabu was arrested in Osaka today for allegedly assaulting a restaurant manager, a local police official said.
Irabu threw a bottle at the manager after his credit card was declined, according to the official, who wasn't authorized to give his name. Irabu, 39, played six seasons with Major League Baseball teams in the U.S. and had a record of 34 wins and 35 losses, according to MLB.com.
Irabu's career helped pave the way for a wave of Japanese players who left for the U.S. including the Seattle Mariners' Ichiro Suzuki, according to ``The Meaning of Ichiro,'' a book by Robert Whiting.
Irabu, who debuted with the New York Yankees in 1997, spent three seasons with the team and played 11 years as a professional in Japan for the Lotte Marines and the Hanshin Tigers.

I read the headline and figured you were talking about Ponson. Wow, I had forgotten about this guy.
