While Im looking at some games, I had a couple thoughts that I wanted to share and I figured some people on here might agree. Nothing has to do with baseball in this thread yet, so check back later if thats what you are looking for.

Shame on ESPN

Espn is supposed to be "The Worldwide Leader In Sports," but I think they should be totally ashamed of themselves and the way they have run ESPN.com over the last couple years. The fact that this company has the largest sports budget yet puts out the single worst product of any sports web-site is not only embarrassing, but makes me sick to my stomach.

I want to begin with their coverage of the Olympics. ESPN has continuously posted Olympics results on their web-ste and "bottom line" that has ruined viewership for many people that wanted to watch the events in primetime. I knew Bolt broke the records in the morning, I knew USA won their basketball games before they aired out West, and I even knew Misty May and Kerry Walsh won their matches before they went on tv. While many people will just say that they are reporting the news, I disagree. I look at ESPN as a 12 year old girl trying to spite their step-father (NBC) for not giving them anything but AP pitcures until the next day. Seriously, if people want the information then they will find it. Make someone click on a link for gods sake, there is no reason to ruin this when people are simply trying to find other sports results.

Secondly, the vomit (articles) that ESPN has posted on their web-site not only disgust me morally, but are some of the dumber sports opinons on the web. Lets first look at Rick Reiley. How much did ESPN need to pay for an over-rated writer that used to write something of quality about 10 years ago. His first column tried to tug at our heart strings, but was actually nothing more than a pathetic plea for readers to forget about his stand-off with SI (the magazine that made him) in which he refused to be the 2nd highest paid writer on the staff. Because of this, Bill Simmons has gone into exile leaving nothing to read on this piece of crap site. Next, lets look at their treatment of Jemelle "Race Card" Hill. How the hell can ESPN give this woman her job back? What has she ever done then try an garner attention by writing pathetic race-card articles that have nothing to do with sports anyways. If I wanted this sort of garbage, I would simply turn on CNN. Ms. Hill compared cheering to a sports team to cheering to Hitler. Yes, she compared it to the man that slaughtered millions of people because of their religion. Now she has her job back and is writing again, but the best baseball analyst to ever appear on television (Harold Renolyds) is still trying to get part time work with TBS because he copped a feel on a womans ass. How truley pathetic this really is. This is the worst writer on the internet (until you read the next paragraph) and ESPN is sacrificing their own integrity for this stupid woman.

The most disturbing and annoying part of ESPN.com though is their refusal to take ever single article Chris Sheridan writes and toss it straight into the trash can. This man is the single worst writer in the history of journalism, but because he can touch the bosses the right way under the desks continues to put out the worst pieces of print I have ever seen. First of all, his chats are filled with cryptic answers proving that he has absolutely no connections in the league and offers noting in terms of inside information. Now, he has been able to top himself 4 consecutive times with the WORST articles about the Redeem Team I have ever read. First it was going to be Austrailia and their new step up in competition, then it was going to be the dangerous Greeks, and followed up by the Argentines. All these teams were going to beat the USA. Now, it is Spain who is happy to see how to beat the Americans. How about you shut up Chris, and write something positive about this team instead of trying to be like Screamin A Smith and say that most absurb thing possible in hopes someone reads your article. The true shame is that after out young men stand up on top of the podium with Gold Medals draped around their neck, we will have yet to read one article on ESPN.com that actually matters. Instead of saying he was wrong, and saying that he judged these young men on teams of the past, I am sure we will get anothre garbage article claiming the USAs flight will crash somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle when coming back.

ESPN should be embarrassed with themselves and the medicore product they have put out there the last couple years. Their writers are trash, and their hypocritical standards have left one of the most shameful times any organization has reached in my eyes in the past couple years. Just becase FOX Sports is a total joke that has its budgets strech so far they cannot put out a decent product doesnt mean ESPN has the right to settle for poor journalism and a bad product. I am disgusted with their lack of integrity and hope something changes.

Stephen Jackson is looking to get a contract extension this season, according to the Contra Costa Times ... Heat interested in DJ Mbenga ... Jose Calderon likely out of the gold-medal game ... Gregg Popovich or Mike D’Antoni to replace Mike Krzyzewski as U.S. team head coach? ...

USA minus the points. Without Calderon, they hold no chance. Rubio is not enough to handle the pressute that Team USA will put on him. The kid is good, but this stage is simply too much, and his inability to stop penetration on the perimeter will put the Spanish front line is lots of trouble.

Going to look at some baseball games now, but I dont like anything in the early slate of games. I think taking the Nationals today probably has some "value," but I dont see them pulling out another one in Chicago. The line is inflated to high heaven trying to get some money on the Nationals, and I wont chase them today again. Yesterday was their chance to win in Chicago IMO. Listch and his ugly photo on ESPN.com have done me dirty a couple times this year so I am going to avoid that one also. I just dont like either of the plays, but am looking for some things at 1 oclock.

Good luck everyone today!!!!

Cardinals -1.5 +125

I know, I know. Joey Ps favorite play today and Im jumping on the run line. Im sure this isnt the most popular play going around, and nobody is going to confuse this play as a "sharp" one. I just couldnt pass up because it involves a couple of my favorite angels to play. Lohse has struggled pretty bad his last three starts going 0-3, but two of those starts came on the road where he has struggled to an ERA 2 points higher than he does at Busch Stadium. Now he is returning home, and the Cardinals bats seem to be crushing the ball again. With most teams, I would not recommend betting them after they dropped 18 runs the day before, but as we have seen with this Cardinals team all year long....they hit in bunches. If there was one problem with the Cardinals this year other than that terriable bullpen it is that they normally dont do well against left-handed pitching. Their right-handed line-up is much more potent than the one the toss out there with a lefty on the hill. Also, Campillo seems to be on fumes now. He has thrown more than 100 innings more than any other season in the majors and his control numbers over the last 2 weeks definitly lean towards that. The Cardinals are hot, and the Braves are limping themseleves to the finish line. The Cardinals bullpen has been much better the last week, and I hope they hit a streak similar to a couple weeks ago where they were able to get some people out. Ill take the Cardinals to continue their good baseball against a pitcher that seems to have hit the wall. Good luck to everyone, I am also looking at adding the Marlins and Astros later on tonight.

You forgot the part about ESPN making up rumors hoping that one out of every 40 will happen.

Good Luck Today
