He was in a rundown between second and third and was called safe after being tagged out, what the hell happened?

The call resulted in the ump giving Pierzynsky third base with one out in the bottom of the 9th in a 5-5 game.

With technology today, why doesn't MLB at least use replay for a call like this? The manager arguments and the umpire huddles slow the game down more a replay review.

Catcher should have caught the ball. Instead he let Anderson score. Game would have never gotten this far.

Bad call but thats mlb umps for you. They are bad. Ump called a minn homerun that was foul by 10 feet. Fans went crazy and home plate ump changed it. What the hell are they looking at? If anyone needs instant replay, its mlb. These umps are blind.

Yup. Awful decision to send Anderson, 3B coach just hoping he would catch a bad throw by the LF, which he didn't, but the catcher screwed up. Anderson out by at least 8 feet. White Sox with 2 big errors earlier in the game as well.

I watched the replay again. The LF was up and throwing the ball BEFORE Anderson was touching 3rd base--I have never seen this before. 8 ft-he was going to be out by like 30 feet. Terrible call to send--but they got lucky

Yes, the interference call was terrible. BUT:

The throw from Zobrist shorthopped the catcher. It was a very difficult play for the catcher to make. If he had gotten it there on one bounce Anderson would have been out.

With two out in the 9th down by a run you HAVE to send someone with Anderson's speed. Hold him at third? Are you kidding??

Don't forget yet another example of Upton not playing hard - he loafed a fly ball letting the runner advance or none of this discussion would even be happening.

This guy has so much talent but doesn't even try. His teammates must be ready to kill him.

Very true. Pierzynksi's probably safe anyway, but you can't concede the base to a runner that slow, which is what Upton did. Looks like another matter that the Rays are going to have to address "internally".

You people can't be serious. First of all, nobody is more important to that team than Upton. How can you say he doesn't try. Either you don't watch a lot of Rays games or you don't like him for some other reason. I'm getting so sick of all the Upton bashing. He plays hard and he's a stud who will only get better. Don't mistake being a great athlete and making things look easy for not trying. Any team in baseball would kill to have him.
Secondly, that ball was deep. There's no fuckng way he throws him out. There is nobody to blame for that call other than that fuck-tasting ump who, by the way, was also behind the plate for Pierzynski's "dropped third strike" play in the playoffs a few years back. Fuck him. Fuck AJ for acting like a bitch on the basepaths too while we're at it. Fucking douche.

Not getting to second on a ball hit to the wall is simply not trying. He doesnt have to be a genius to know to run as hard as you can when making contact, but he will learn and he has exceptional skills
