Yesterday all is going swimmingly for me as soccer bets and olympics doing fairly well. Astros come through and I'm thinking gonna be a nice day. Nascar race at night and it seems every single driver I have in a matchup is leading and proceeds to crash. Lose over $700 on the race and end up minus $554.35 for the day. Get that sinking feeling that all this effort is not worth it.

Fast forward to today. Start the day off sweeping the board in Formula 1 including a nice +340 prop bet. Soccer goes very well, thanks to tailing some sharp guys (insert cheap plug for Quantum Leap, Chriscol, Tapa Rosca, and the rest of the sharp soccer forum cappers). Indy car race caps the day off and I again sweep the board including the race winner. I tally up the bets today and the record for the day was 21-2-1 and profit well over and above what I lost of the roundy-round drivers.

Oh the ups and downs of gambling.

Tell me about it. Bought $500 on the Blue Jays last night at +134. Was gonna buy back $300 of it and was in my car when I went to call it in. Was 5 minutes late, so I had to let it ride. So many chances, including a near walk-off in the bottom of the 10th, only to lose in the 11th. And then afterwards, I asked myself why the hell I didn't take the +1.5. Also had Minny and it looked great for 6 innings, and had the Pirates +295 with the bases juiced and nobody out in the 11th. Shit.

Most days stay within a close range, but it seems the past two weekends have been several standard deviations either way. These swings are not fun to stomach.
Same thing happened last weekend, lost big Saturday and won Sunday.

Since I usually have more wagers on the weekend and Saturday in particular, due to the types of events I bet, I guess the variance will be greater.

Illini,
When you wager 3 or 4 events a day the variance is going to swing greatly. Sort of like 100 poker or BJ hands versus 1000.

For the most part, my variance is reduced with the increasing number of wagers (as it should).

It was likely an aberration considering I had 71 bets on Saturday and 24 on Sunday.

I doubt I will ever have a day like that percentage-wise VD. One of the losses was a bet on the Indy race and he came in second. I had the winner as well, so it would have been impossible to win them both.

Of course, when you add up the record for the two days it comes out to 47-41-7. Pretty much on course with my standard mean. It was just the wild swings from one day to the next.

I know the feeling 1-4 yesterday and looking at another 1-4 today if Texas dont come back. And what makes it worse 5 of those loses blew 8th inning leads that gets annoying. In years past this is where I would usually chase with a ton of parleys and make things 10x worse but not anymore I know it will turn around.

I hear you. Here is my recent record for Euro soccer:

8-13-08: 1-3-1 -1.30
8-14-08: 1-0-0 +0.85
8-15-08: 1-0-0 +0.75
8-16-08: 1-0-0 +1.13
8-17-08: 3-0-0 +2.48
8-18-08: 1-0-0 +0.79
8-19-08: 0-1-0 -1.00
8-20-08: 0-0-0 +0.00
8-21-08: 0-1-1 -2.00
8-22-08: 1-1-0 -0.49
8-23-08: 1-0-0 +1.18
8-24-08: 4-0-1 +2.98

One day I go 1-3-1, then follow it with a 7-0-0 run, followed by another 1-3-1 run and then finish it with a 5-0-1 run this weekend. Follow the bouncing ball. It goes up and down, up and down...

I have to give props to oldmanTED and Braniac and sharky99. I laid big money on the US over 103 on TED's suggestion, Brainiac gave me the Women's Olympic Handball winner and sharky99 gave me a couple CFL winners, each for significant amounts.
