Finding Value in Heavy Favs

This being my first season betting bases I am still working out best plays and strategies for profitable betting practices. Recently there have been a lot of heavy favs at over -200 to -300 range.

This situation leads to parlaying it up with another team to attempt to ease the chalk and get a return of over 1 to 1 return on your money. A second option is to take the runline which lowers the chalk down to the -120 range.

The problem I have found with these heavy Favs however is lots of time the games are 1 run wins where the spread does not cover (or worse the fav loses outright).

The value I have been finding is getting + money in taking the dog with the +1 1/2 runline.

An example would be tonight's Angels game. Their offense has been slumping lately and with Anderson out now they are down a potent bat. In their last 10 games they've gone 4-6 and of the 4 wins they won 2 by 1 and 2 were by 2. The money line for Angels is -242, the runline -120 while the As runline is +100. It seems apparent to me the best value is the As +runline for tonights game.

BOL tonight and I appreciate any input on long turn success of a betting strategy such as this from more experienced bettors. :toast:

One thing remember, do not bet on heavy favor when they on the road, cause home team gets a chance at bottom of the 9th; see last night w/Minn.-Seatlle
