and not by gambling.

Hurricane Gustav is coming.

Category 4, going to to category 5 by tomorrow.

Not going to be fun.

evacuate?

No, I am staying where I am at and I won't be one of the ones crying on TV later.

:ohno:

I live just outside of Baton Rouge, but we're expecting to receive winds of
80 + mph, heavy rain and flooding, tornadoes and lightning for a long period of time.

I have a camp down at the coast (Venice, LA) and it withstood Katrina, but Gustav appears to be bigger and badder.

We'll see.

I'm hard headed!

I feel safe, only because it's sunny and beautiful right now!

I really don't have anywhere to go. I'm with my family and that's the most important thing to me.

I just might be an idiot. I just found out that where I live, we can expect category 2 or category 3 type winds.

Uh oh.

I don't think I'd leave either if I was as far inland as Baton Rouge(Beautiful city, BTW).

New Orleans is an entirely different story......NOT where you want to be in a hurricane.

Thanks for the compliment on my city.

I believe we will be safe, but the tornadoes and flooding are what we will be on the lookout for.

House should be fine, even with 111 mph winds.

80 mph isn't that bad. you'll have some damage outside the house but inside should be ok.
i got hurricane windows so i never have to board up anymore. best 20k i ever spent. worth the investment

Your camp survived becuase it wasnt hit by Katrina...The Mississippi Gulf Coast was who got hit as the storm went straight up the LA/MS state line.

It is definately in the line of fire now...

Considering that this is already a cat 4 & isn't even really over the gulf yet, if New Orleans takes a direct hit, this is going to be nothing less than Katrina #2 if they take a direct hit.

The levees aren't made to withstand a cat 4-5 hit, which this sure looks like it's panning out to be.

isnt it heading farther west than n.orl ?

could always change i know , but i think texas may get the brunt of it.

i just hope it doesnt hang a right and come across thru tampa to the east coast of florida . we've had enough rain for a while
