I will second that.

What a scary situation this must be for all the people in its path.

No shit... I love how they tell everyone to get out, or ride out the storm alone. Leave the folks who don't have anywhere to go... No one cares 'bout them anyway.

They've essentially said that for folks stranded this time around, there will be no Super Dome, or other shelters set up... So if you don't have anywhere to go (family/friends) and are worried that your house may be gone or looted when you get back... You're pretty much screwed. Either stay and try to preserve what you have, your livelihood, or leave and HOPE that something is left when you return.

well they had ample warning..and were offered a free ride out of town...the bus is not like a school bus that makes stops on the way to wherever they are going..it simply takes them away from danger...and from what i understand anyone can get on these buses and be out of danger...as far as the looting goes ,that is what the pieces of shit left behind will do..we saw this last time..

why open the superdome to rapist and thief's....plenty of time to get out this time....don't matter if you have friends/family or whatever

if you are stupid enough to go back from last time you deserve whatever you get...

still have a bad taste in my mouth from last time when these people abused system and spent all their money at strip bars etc....would not hurt my feelings at all if they all were erased from the planet...

I wouldn't choose to live there... But I mean, it seems like just about anyone could get fucked over in this situation. I'm not sure how insurance works in places like this, but I have a friend who's an EMT, and luckily he has family up here - but if he didn't, what is he supposed to do when he goes back and his house is gone?

Certainly the situation last time, in the Dome, was not a good one - but maybe the city could work out a better situation for providing shelter for future storms? It seems like that may be more reasonable (and cost effective) than putting evacuees up in hotels, on cruise ships, and ultimately in subsidized trailor parks. It would also ensure that vital city workers, fire fighters, emts, police officers wouldn't have to leave - hopefully speeding up the city's recovery.

Everyone knows the storm is coming - everyone knows what might happen - what can the government do? - they are trying to get people out - but at some point - the individual needs to take action and get the fuck out all by himself - bus, car, go-kart, etc - yeah, open the Superdome again - that was a huge success.
