Bringing in Gagne for the 8th with a 1-run lead instead of Guillermo Mota, who'd turned in 10 consecutive scoreless appearances (now 11 after a clean 9th inning) and didn't allow a run in August. Comical.

Of course, it wouldn't have mattered if Sheets didn't leave the game with tightness in his groin after 5 scoreless innings and only 54 pitches. Mets weren't scoring on Sheets this afternoon. This had complete game shutout written all over it.

Yes, I had the Brewers today and yes, I'm bitter.

Completely agree... also I would have walked Delgado and pitched to Beltran don't care if it's the go ahead run or not. Delgado has been way hot as of late, it's the right move set up double play and bring in Mota. Oh well, what can ya do. Get em next time rjt.

Give Ned a break, he was still worried about what some scorer in Pittsburgh did yesterday and had a brain fart by having Gagne pitch.

Gagne hasn't been a big-league pitcher in over a year, a span that's now over 50 innings of work, yet Yost puts him in the biggest spot in the game over a guy (Mota) who's been lights out of late. Unbelievable. You can't make this shit up.

Yost is a lower echelon manager and if it wasn't for Sabathia in the second half Brewers wouldn't make the playoffs. Sheets is always susceptible to some type of injury and with a bullpen that includes guys like Riske and Gagne they won't go anywhere even if they do make the playoffs.
