This trial would actually be comical if it wasn't wasting taxpayer's money. This is a nothing case but it's is a something case because it's OJ Simpson. There is a trial for two reasons.
#1. Clark County District Attorney David Roger never met a camera he didn't like. This publicity whore wants to run for a higher political office and he wants to use this trial to help his political career.
#2. Things have been a bit quiet in Las Vegas on the tourism front so it's time to get the Las Vegas name back in the news for a while and this is one way to do it. There's lots of press here and the Las Vegas and Convention and Visitors Authority will milk this for all it's worth. It's widely known that David Roger is very cozy with some of the top casino brass in town and I think they all got together and said let's get all of us back in the news.
This is a weak case, at best. It's basically sports memorabilia dealers testifying against OJ Simpson. Sports memorabilia dealers are for the most part scumbags with very little credibility and I think OJ Simpson's lawyers will pick them apart. They only have to put reasonable doubt into the minds of 12 people that weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty. It's not tough to fool the overwhelming majority of Las Vegans. People in this dogshit city are so fucking stupid that if you told them the earth was flat, most of them would believe you. OJ Simpson will never spend a day in jail from this publicity stunt by the Clark County District Attorney and his lackeys.
