Usually after week one there are always a couple teams that play very well and people doubt them. Usually a couple of those teams go on to have very good seasons. A couple observations I have after week one are as follows:

1. The Panthers defense is very good finally. They have a chance to be very good this year and will fly under the radar for a while. Their week two match up may be the best game of the week.

2. The Bears defense can flip a switch. A lot of people around Chicago were alarmed by their preseason performance but they proved they could turn it on when the regular season came along. ESPN refuses to give credit to the Bears defense for shutting down the Colts, but in reality if the players on this team play up to their pro-bowl level they are the best defensive team in football. If Mike Brown stays healthy this team will make the playoffs and be very scary. Forte is also a very good young running back. People will continue to doubt this team but their defense can be the best in football with ease.

3. The Cowboys are the best team in the NFC and one of the top 3 in football. Their defense is a little soft but their offense is explosive. If they can get their issues in the secondary figured out they could become the Superbowl Favorite.

4. The Patriots are not done. Even w/o Brady they are the best team in their division. Randy Moss and Maroney should be able to carry this team into the playoffs as long as Cassel doesn't make a lot of mistakes. Their defense seems to very good again this year.

5. The Ravens defense isn't getting old and outside of the Bears they may have the best defense in football when healthy. As long as they can run the football and protect the ball on offense they have a chance to be a very dangerous team.

Some of the teams from last year just aren't as good this year. While many people won't give the teams that stunk last year respect yet, eventually they'll earn it. The NFL is a funny league and things change yearly more than any other league. Other opinions and observations are welcomed because I think the books won't alter their lines for a couple weeks because some teams don't have the respect of the Public yet.
