Talk about overrated....The guy throws 2 interceptions and hears it from the fans and then this....

Titans asked for police help to find QB Young

By TERESA M. WALKER – 4 hours ago
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Vince Young is awaiting an MRI exam on his sprained left knee Tuesday, hours after the Tennessee Titans sought police help in finding the quarterback the team described as "emotionally down."
Young left his home around 7 p.m. Monday without a phone, prompting the Titans to call Nashville police for help. The team got a message to Young through a friend, and the quarterback met with coach Jeff Fisher and police at team headquarters around 11:30 p.m. Police spokesman Don Aaron said Young drove himself home about 30 minutes later.
The story first was reported by WKRN-TV.
"Ultimately, it appears the initial concerns about his emotional state were unfounded," Aaron said Tuesday. "But no one actually knew that until he was spoken to face to face."
Aaron also said Young had an unloaded handgun in the glovebox of his car. Tennessee law permits unloaded firearms in vehicles as long as no ammunition is present.
Young hurt his knee late in Sunday's 17-10 win over Jacksonville and was booed heavily by fans.
"Given the totality of the circumstances, the fact that Young had been emotionally down all day Coach Fisher contacted the police department and asked for help in finding him to check on his emotional well-being," Aaron said.
The Titans said people close to Young called the team Monday night, concerned about his state of mind when he left his home.
"He was located at a friend's house, where we made contact with him. He then came to the practice facility where it was determined that those initial concerns by his friends and family were unfounded, and he returned home without incident," the Titans said in a statement.
Young's MRI exam was rescheduled for Tuesday from Monday with no explanation. Fisher said Monday if the injury is a third-degree MCL sprain, Young probably would miss a couple weeks and not be 100 percent for up to four weeks.
Veteran Kerry Collins is the only other quarterback on the roster, but the Titans worked out Quinn Gray on Tuesday. The team also was looking at QB Joey Harrington and a handful of receivers, including Glenn Martinez and Chad Jackson.

I wouldn't say Bush is that big of a bust. Obviously Mario Williams is a much better NFL player right now, and I wouldn't even say Bush is the best RB from the draft class (Addai), but to me a bust is someone that doesn't help their team win at all or doesn't even last in the league. Bush is still weak between the tackles and doesn't scare anyone running the ball, but he's a slightly above average receiver with good moves in the open field.

VY, Was, Is, & Always Will Be A Stiff

Who's dumber than a box of rocks (see M. Vick). He caught lightening in a bottle a few times, but is too stupid to ever assimilate the nuances required of an NFL QB. Both he and Vick are prime examples showing that being physically gifted is NOT the only requirement needed to make it at that position. I'm afraid my Vikes have one of their own in Ol Tavaris. The history of the league is filled w/these guys.

Troubled Vince Young a $50 million NFL flop

Commentary: UT version of Young disappears in Nashville

Vince's problems could include more than just knee injury

By RICHARD JUSTICE Copyright 2008 Houston Chronicle

Sept. 10, 2008, 7:25AM

Vince Young is either a spoiled brat, a troubled young man or some combination of the two.
That’s the problem with screaming at him to grow up and deal with things virtually every other NFL quarterback has to deal with.
There could be something more serious going on. Those of us on the outside simply don’t know what’s going on inside his head. But what we do know — or what we think we know — is troubling.
The Tennessean is reporting that Young “spent time with a psychologist” before disappearing for more than four hours Monday evening. The psychologist told the Titans that Young was extremely depressed and there was reason to be concerned about him, the newspaper reported.
“Given the totality of the situation, coach (Jeff) Fisher was concerned about Young’s emotional well-being,” a Nashville police spokesman said.
Forget the spin the Titans and Young’s inner-circle are putting on Monday’s events. It stretches the imagination to see it all as a case of Young forgetting his cell phone and hanging out at a friend’s house watching football.
What the Titans have said is that Young apparently left his home abruptly Monday evening. We may never know the full story there.
But someone from his home telephoned Fisher with information that alarmed Fisher enough to call police. Clearly someone thought Young was capable of harming himself.
Once Young was found, he met with Fisher and convinced his coach everything was fine. But for a few minutes Monday, everything clearly wasn’t fine.
Young’s agent, Major Adams, called it a misunderstanding. That’s also what the Titans said about Young’s behavior during Sunday’s game. He was booed after throwing his second interception.
When he got to the sideline, he threw his helmet to the ground and blew off teammates who attempted to console him. He sat on the bench and buried his face in his hands.
When the Titans got the ball back, Young refused to take the field. Fisher said Young was worried about a sore leg.
He lasted four plays before suffering a knee injury that will sideline him for awhile
.
He seems to need this time off to gather himself, to figure out where he’s at both in his life and his career.
Those of us that knew him at the University of Texas are having trouble believing this is the same guy that was so tough, so mature and so fiercely competitive.
He wasn’t simply the best college football player on earth those last two years at Texas. He was the guy that made everything go. Teammates and coaches alike looked to him to lead.
He led the Longhorns in the locker room and on the field. I thought the Texans were fools for not drafting him because I couldn’t comprehend him failing. Now it’s getting harder and harder to believe in him.
In three seasons, he has missed a team flight, sulked when things have gone badly and gotten steadily worse as a player.
That’s not the Vince Young that Longhorn Nation loved. That Vince Young didn’t pout when people doubted him. He fed off it, used it to drive himself to do more and more.
I saw him misbehave just once. That was the night he lost the Heisman Trophy to Reggie Bush.
He was less than gracious in his concession speech, and when he was done, an Austin columnist whispered, “USC is in trouble.”
Young used the Heisman snub to drive him. The Titans might not recognize that Vince Young because it doesn’t resemble the sulky, withdrawn young man they now have.
One thought in Nashville is that Young has surrounded himself with people that tell him only what he wants to hear. They blame the media for almost everything, including the fans that boo.
Young has never failed the way he’s failing now. At anything. When he played poorly at Texas, he still had Mack Brown’s cocoon to protect him.
He also knew he was always going to be the best athlete on the field, and that he was usually going to have enough raw skills to do whatever he wanted to do.
Now he’s playing against opponents as big and fast as he is and defensive coordinators drawing up schemes far more complex than anything he dealt with in college.
Maybe Young is having a hard time adjusting to a world in which hours of study are required and fans are unforgiving.
They don’t want to hear that he’s beginning his third year. They see those throws sail over a receiver’s head and want something else.
Nor do they care what he did at the University of Texas. He’ll always be a legend in Austin, but at the moment, he’s a $50-million NFL flop.
Here’s hoping it’s nothing more than that.

Reggie Bush is breaking out this season.

Vince Young wins football games, doesn't post the best stat lines, but he wins games with below average weapons around him.

any of you guys ever play football (on any level) with a teammate who had superstar status starting the first time he ever touched a ball ? at some point those guys get a reality check. they get keyed on, they fumble, they make mistakes. essentially, they find out shit ain't as easy as it used to be.

"When man looks into the abyss and theres nothing staring back at him, at that moment man finds his character and that is what keeps him out of the abyss"

in this case, the abyss is kind of cushy if you ask me. the bottom is still lined with 50 mil no matter what happens. unless of course he does some stupid shit like committ a crime. maybe mike vick would be an appropriate phone call for good ol' Vince right about now. maybe mike can convince vince that things aren't so bad and that you don't know what you got till it's gone

As of right now, Reggie Bush is well on his way to being the biggest over hyped flop ever in professional football. The comparisons to Gale Sayers and Marshall Faulk were overwhelming; I honestly thought the media was going to induct Reggie into the Hall of Fame before he got drafted......A lot of that has to do with Reggie refusal to follow his block and use his eyes instead of hightailing it to the sidelines. NFL defenses are built on speed, going horizontal then cutting up sidelines will not work anymore. He has a low average, led the league in fumbles....in 12 games last year, and doesn't have big run capability.

I can't stick a fork in Reggie just yet. If his numbers at the end of this season don't show what everyone expected him to be then we can close the case.

Everyone can learn and get better. He had 2 plays over 25 yards the in the last game (1 as a run 1 as a screen reception). I believe he did not have any plays that long last year.

165 yards of offense and a TD is an amazing game. IMO, if we see more of these types of games and an overall improvement in his play I think we can remove the bust label...

Ok lets get this straight. I am by no means anyone that you guys should take seriouse...in all reality he is not a bust...but compared to the heat the Texans took for the Mario Williams choice I think its safe to say that compared to VY, Super Mario or Bush...then Super Mario is the best so far....can we agree on that....I say yes.

I'm not pissed at Reggie. I just don't think he should be crowned when he hasn't done anything in the NFL. Stats don't lie. Talent does not, alone, make you special. Working within the framework of a system, and playing A POSITION, are kinda important.......I'll take someone who can run between the tackles over someone who doesn't need open space to do something.
Reggie Bush is as good a running back as Devin Hester is a wide receiver. Let's be honest - if Hester couldn't catch a kick he'd be looking for work right now. Bush is in the same mold, but he's "too good" to play consistent special teams.
Look at everything that's come out of Southern Cal on offense under Pete Carroll and give me one good reason to like them as a "professional-producing machine?" Carson Palmer, albeit playing in the California Penal League (Major League reference), has yet to show he's a leader. None of their highly touted receivers have become anything since Keyshawn in the mid-90s. LenDale White? Matt Leinart?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—The mother of Titans quarterback Vince Young said he indicated he doesn’t want to play football and is “hurting inside and out.”

Felicia Young said in Wednesday editions of The Tennessean that her son is tired of all the negativity he’s faced after being booed during a 17-10 win Sunday over Jacksonville. On Monday, Titans coach Jeff Fisher called police to help find him.

“What would you think, if you were tired of being ridiculed and persecuted and talked about and not being treated very well, what would you do? What kind of decision would you make?” Felicia Young said “He may not want to deal with it (all), but you have to get to that point before you make that decision first.

“But we’re not talking about football right now. We’re talking about what would make him happy, and that is the most important thing.”

The phone number for Young’s home is unlisted, and his agent, Major Adams, did not answer his cell phone Wednesday morning. The Titans did not immediately return a message left by The Associated Press.

This isn’t the first time that Young has talked of wanting to quit football. He told a reporter last spring that he thought of retiring after his rookie season, a statement he said later was taken out of context.

The No. 3 pick overall in the 2006 draft, Young won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and followed up by helping the Titans reach the playoffs last season with a 10-6 record. He has been criticized for his passing struggles, with nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 2007.

His mental state has been in question since being booed Sunday after his second interception during the Jacksonville game. He didn’t want to go back into the game until prodded by Fisher.

He sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee four plays later and could be out for up to four weeks. Fisher said Tuesday night he is only ruling Young out for Sunday’s game at Cincinnati.

Young didn’t go to the team’s offices Monday and postponed his MRI exam until Tuesday. He met with a psychologist at his home Monday along with Fisher and another team official.

Four hours of uncertainty followed Monday night when Young left his home without his phone, prompting someone at his home to call Fisher. He called police to help find the quarterback and had a meeting late Monday night with Young and police crisis negotiators at the team’s headquarters.

Young later drove home.

Felicia Young said her son needs some space.

“It is hard, all he is going through right now. He’s hurting inside and out,” she told the newspaper.

“But he will be fine if people are prayerful and help my baby boy out. He is a young man. He just needs a lot of love and support.”
