There are organic/natural food stores in hawaii, but a Whole Foods just opened up accross the street....i went there yesterday.....

holy crap that stuff is expensive....I don't think anyone outside of Joeyfitz and Mr. newlywed can afford this stuff. I think if I shopped there, my grocery bill would double....and taste worse.

I found it funny cause I'm walking through the isles and these brands all feel like generic supermarket brands but they cost more than the name brands....werid to me.

oh yeah....WTF IS "OAT-less OATMEAL"???? I saw this on a box and had to chuckle.

My wife shops there quite a bit. We (she) tries to feed our kids as much organic stuff as possible. A complete racket but whatever, if that's what she wants to do, fine by me.

They are known as "Whole Paycheck" because that's what it costs to shop there.

I love to shop there but I don't buy the organic crap. They have specialty items that you can't find anywhere else like specialty cereals, olives and mayo.

My wife shops there as well..She tries to eat as much Organic as possible. They do have some really great items which you cannot get any place else, but you are right it is over priced when compared to a regular grocery store.

The (two different) stores in Chicago have gotten closed down twice. Seems the rats like the organic stuff too and despite the mark up, the store can't keep them out for some reason. They just stay open for business selling high priced food and keeping the rats happy.

They are extremely pricey, but I shop there on occasion but the meat and produce are so much better than the local Shaws. Also, they have some great prepared foods. Outstanding chicken soup!

Organic foods in large production in my opinion are not quite there yet. Paying almost double for most products that are in some ways subpar in quality and expire twice as fast is a tough racket especially for someone in the catering business like me. I do have some clients that request all organic menus and are prepared to pay a hefty premium.

Instead of buying all organic I often encourage people to eat an all-local produce and meat diet which is superior in flavor and helps keep prices reasonable.

Whole Foods shelf life for their items is ridiculous too, they throw away a lot of food.

But as stated they have a lot of items you just can't find anywhere else. Their prep food dept too is top notch, overpriced but everything is good great or excellent

Seem to recall that those fellas who frequent WF report a higher than average General Poontang rating for the shoppers
