Is there a more pitiful professional sports franchise than the Detroit Lions? In the last 50 years, what is their playoff participation record? Matt Millen, keeps the GM job year after year? :missingte

Yeah thats what I saying. Momentum is for losers. For those 10 I can name 20 other times it meant nothing.

So you are saying it only means something when they win. That is what makes this "momentum" thing so stupid.

Rightside, hearing you say this makes me think you have never played sports. Ask anybody who was big into playing sports and will tell you momentum exists.

You are trying to make a point that EVERYTIME that you get momentum on your side that you win the game. Nobody making a momentum argument would ever say that is true so don't know where you come up with that.

Being really big into sports my whole life and probably bigger than ever into slow pitch softball now I can tell you 100% that momentum is true. I could give you a million examples.

Kind of dumb everytime this topic comes up on here as everyone leaves confused as they dont know what the other person's point is.

RS has been arguing this with others for years and I dont think anyone understands each other because no one can clearly define when momentum starts and stops or whatever point others are trying to make. Everyone has different examples and interpetations, etc... Never gets anywhere and it never will.

See what I mean this shit is confusing:think2:

The reason why momentum is real is strictly because of human emotions. Sure, if everyone was mentally tough and not affected by crowd noise, fear, lack of confidence, etc.....then momentum would not be real. But you're a tool if you think it doesn't exist. Even if it's just one big play that plants doubt into an opponent's heads after they thoroughly dominated for 3 quarters.

If there's no such thing as momentum, then you and I are neither one capable of feeling anything. And you also have to believe that there is no such thing as a crowd affecting a game.

Perfect Ice. That is my whole point what determines when it starts and when the other team has it.

Look at the Lions today GreenBay had "it" early , the Lions had it mid game, and the Packers had it late, so in the end it didn't mean anything.

How about in BB when a team makes a comeback to tie the score but ends up losing in overtime. LOL Explain that please.

BTW I have played sports my whole life. And for you the knucklehead to mention softball LMAO softball is that a real sport. LOL softball. Thats funny.

Yeah softball is a real sport just as any. You act as if a sport isn't baseball, football, or basketball it isn't a TRUE sport. Well when you get older sure you have pick-up basketball games, sure you have maybe an wood bat league which I play in both, but softball is just as competitive unless you are playing a recreation league. Just out of curiosity, What sports do you play now at your age since softball isn't a real sport?

In the leagues I play in these guys are outstanding athletes and take the game as competitive as anything. Thousands of dollars are poured into softball every year whether it is money tournaments within the state or with trips to Vegas and AZ for conference championships. I guarantee the guys I play ball with are better athletes then are now and my guess would be that we are more than you ever were.

LOL Relax Indian.

I played baseball in highschool. I also happenned to be a very good wrestler back in the day so I know what a different type of sport is.

I also play softball up until recently and I bowl in 2 leagues. You are correct that being atheletes like I am sure most of us were at one point as We get older (40 for me) it becomes tough to be active in competitve sports.

Still doesn't explain to me when momentum starts and ends.

Does Pit have "momentum" now? If so how long will they have it?

Exactly, it's human emotions. It's why in softball for example a team can put up 20 runs in an inning because everyone is hitting the ball all over the field to that same exact team putting up 5 runs in a game because they never got anything going.

It's that diving catch in the outfield that saves 3 runs and your team being jacked up about it and laying 10 runs on the board the next inning.

Let me give a perfect example of momentum. We were playing a softball tournament about 3 weeks ago. We scored 15+ runs in 3 straight games. In the 4th game we never got anything going and never got any momentum going. In the last inning we were down 9-2 and came back to tie the game. With bases loaded and 1 out needing 1 run to win the game our batter hit a lazer down the 3rd base line(should have been hitting a fly-ball but shit happens) The 3rd baseman makes a diving play, tags 3rd and shoots it over to 1st for a double play. Our team was so down after that, the other team was way up on it at this point. In the extra inning they came back and scored 10 runs after they had scored 9 in only 7 the entire game.

Thats momentum/human emotions

I am not sure, I'm not watching the game.

If you watch a game you can almost see the effort of a team fluctuate throughout. Effort = momentum to me. When the crowd gets going and the players start going 150%. You can see the effort change to levels that the team can't keep up the whole game, but during this time(momentum) they can keep it going. Often this happens after a huge play when that team was down thinking, "There is no way we can win this game" to "We have a chance" You can see it on the field, you can see it in the players.

I can't see whats funny. Often times when someone can't respond with anything but a smilie it means they just don't have anything to say. No arguement so just laugh. What do you disagree with in that example of momentum. Honestly I'd like to hear it.
