OT- What's the longest you've gone without sleeping? (and showering)

A friend of mine has gone without sleeping since last Monday and is seemingly on the verge of cracking. He told me he has tried to sleep but just can't when he gets in bed. It is really starting to creep me out as every day he has been losing it more and more.

Anyone ever gone without sleeping for this long? Did you just eventually crash for 24 hours or did you snap or what?

I actually am concerned about this kid.

No shit, used to do 3-4 days at a time with just small catnaps while at sea in the navy. It used to take a solid 24 hours down to recover.

Hines, how old is he? In his twentys?

He may even start to hullicinate even if he doesnt get some sleep. He needs a nice meal and lay down. He will probably be out for a good 10-12 hard hours. And by hard hours, I mean he probably won't even dream or have any rem sleep.

I did some crazy things back in the day. Place I used to work, we had unlimited OT for 2 months in a row. I always tried to push myself to rack like 140 hours for the week. I lost so much weight and hardly ever slept. I did feel sickly and weak.

He's 25, just was killing himself this past week over this presentation we had to do together for a grad class. It's just scary, his demeanor has changed greatly from last week to this.

I mean he was able to pull it together for our presentation last night but the dude is not himself.

from 25-33 I could stay awake 3 - 4 days no problem

now at 39 after about a day and a half I get tired and its alot harder to recover for the next one.

I did maybe 3 days on meth about 25 years ago. I agree, stay away from that SHIT. Speed kills. We ( construction workers) used to do it a lot, when we got paid for what we actually did ( piecework). Start work at sunrise, go all day, string up lights when dark, work all night too , repeat! Never again.

pulled a few all nighters in my life, felt so shitty afterwards that i never even consider it anymore, not that i have any reason to now anyway. But my GF in college was an arcitechture major and they seemed to take pride in pulling all nighters working on stupid ass projects.

What's the longest you've gone without showering ?

to go along with the sleeping thing. I'd say maybe 3 days for me ( camping or jail). Otherwise I like a daily one.
