Anybody see this? Apparently if the right number is thrown at Kobe he'd consider going overseas. Can't say I blame him.

He's already got 2 kids and I'm sure he has some groupies on the road trips. Lingering in the back of his mind, he doesnt want to end up like Latrell sprewell living in a yacht.

Kobe spent some time in Italy as a child and speaks fluent Italian. If some team from Italy offers 50 mil a year I don't see him turning it down.

People who think a Euroleague team would ever offer someone 50 million a year are extremely stupid. These teams simply don't have that kind of money. Just cause Kobe said he'd play for 50 mil a year over there doesn't mean they have it, morons.

5 years ago i would've agreed with you. but with the explosion of the nba worldwide, increased fan interest 10 times, competitiveness of the leagues, no salary caps and billion dollar owners, i could see a team making a big offer.

An Italian team recently set a record for highest salary ever.

It was an American (oh no could be Kobe).

It was Earl Boykins and he is making 3.5 mil a year. He's the leagues highest paid player.

The owners over there would consider it an investment. Do you know how much money they could make off jersey sales alone?

That is an absurd idea.

Baseball has never had a salary cap, but no team has ever tried to draw a player in with a huge contract "as an investment". Sports franchises don't spend money they don't have, and the Euroleague is no different. If this were a valid tactic a bunch of teams with no real revenue would have offered 75 million a year for A-Rod "as an investment", but the discussion was only between the Yanks, and Sox because they have the most money and could offer the most money.
