Isnt it amazing how rare it is for plane crashes in the U.S.

flew out to vegas and back last weekend and was thinking how it almost never happens .

you would think with , i dont know , 5000 planes in the air every day , their would be 3 or 4 major disasters a year in this country .

It's amazing a baseball team's plane doesn't go down, with all those teams flying around the country all the time.

Closer to 30,000 commercial flights per day, and yes it is pretty incredible. I think about it everytime I fly. I hate to fly.

Not all that surprising, compare it to cars.

Now, all the planes are good planes and checked to be 100% working properly before each flight. There is nothing in the air for them to crash into like there are for cars. How often does a new car in good condition suddenly stop working properly in 1 trip? Not very often.

Very true, but there's no way that you can compare those private puddle jumpers to commercial flights. Given the # of commercial flights that occur on a daily basis, it is amazing how safe they are.

Cessna's kill-especially when flown by an unqualified rookie.
