Forget about the sports betting. Vegas is a mortal lock there. (A/C neighbor; Delaware maybe in the the next few years may offer it). But I just want to relocate in 2009 or 10 at the latest. Have made decision that (my decision) can not be fully based on sports. (Hey I still have internet horse wagering).

So looking for opinions that can compare the 2 areas. I haven't been to AC in lots of years. Vegas never--but it's too far and my reading to date is terrible.

AC area vs Vegas Area: Best places to live within 30 minutes. Maybe someone here can advise.

Thanks!

AC is a slum.
Take it from this Jersey boy, 2 blocks off the boardwalk is a ghetto.

There are a lot of good to excellent communities in Ocean County.
I suggest you look there.

I will.

My fondest memories are in Rockaway, NJ. I doubt any have heard of it. What a drive that used to be. But wow--the gals made UP for it!

Lots of great places to live NEAR Atlantic City.

Like Bill said, you Don't / Won't want to live IN Atlantic City.

Brigantine, Ventnor, Margate or some really nice places. You might be able to get some deals in those places, because they are mostly Summer hang outs. So you might get a good deal for all year round.

Grew up in South Jersey...Linwood, Somers Point, Northfield nice places to live but taxes can be expensive...brother and sister live in Egg Harbor Township...Long Beach Island is a terrific place, only 30 miles down the Garden State Parkway to AC..

I've lived in Joisey 30 years, and California 33 years. One thing nice about Vegas, is that you have California only 300 miles away. It's nice to have the ocean right where you gamble, and have that frozen custard right on the boardwalk, but there's nothing like Vegas. Besides, AC has no sportsbooks, and probably never will! Like comparing apples and oranges!%^_

As far as I'm concerned they're both shit holes. How the hell anyone can live in LV all yr amazes me. The fucking heat makes it unlivable for me. It's a friggen desert for christs sake. And AC's on the EC, nuff said. Go west young man, go west. If gaming isn't a biggie. The PC NW, is the best, if you like it cool as I do. Seattle, BC, N. Cal.! Sunny but not hot, crowded tho, SD. If you don't mind cold and love the outdoors, Montana. BOL BTW you can find casinos anywhere, there's one right outside of Seattle.

You have good points here. I'm starting to consider Northern Nevada (Tahoe or Reno areas). I hate the heat that Vegas has, but HEAVY snow is equally disliked.
