not sure if it is in any other State, but what bullshit and a waste of tax paying money.

I was watching cops and heard this mentioned, what a joke. Could be someone with a drug problem and just needs help. Grant it, they have to want it to get it, but what good is it locking some drug offender up at our expense.

Well I'm 40 and have no felonies in my life. So I would think you would it would be tough to get 3.

What kind of a loser do you have to be to get 3 I mean damn. When do you hold the person accountable for his own actions.

Most times drug posession is not a felony.

I think it's fair. Considering most people never get convicted of anything for their entire life, if you get 3 felonys there is not much hope.

You live in Michigan, you guys have the most fucked up drug laws in the country. The reason felons involved drugs don't get 3 strikes is because they get life for an 8 ball.

I'm sure that fills the prisons pretty fast, at great taxpayer cost.

Is a rapist or murder with two strikes getting pushed out to give a guy life with two drug charges, and a robbery conviction ?

Hey I agree that the drug laws need to change.

OK Besides drugs how could somebody get 3 felonies in 1 lifetime. LOL That would be tough. Also I think if they commit a violent crime like rape they should be gone forever.

I agree with you. The 3 strikes law was created because felons were not getting severe time. So, they figured if you changed you wouldn't be back otherwise

locking a guy up for 40 years costs over a million bucks. Y'all better start killing them.

Hey I agree that the drug laws need to change.

OK Besides drugs how could somebody get 3 felonies in 1 lifetime. LOL That would be tough. Also I think if they commit a violent crime like rape they should be gone forever.
i got 2 with zero drug convictions..........its all relevant

I have none myself, but I can see how they might pile up fast.

Take a gang-banger. He gets one, maybe assaulting a cop or something, does some time.

gets out, robs a store, more time.

strike 3 is ex-felon in possesion of a handgun, or something= LIFE

Calif is going to need a lot of prisons.

I have no solution.

Law is political propaganda just like most "tough on crime" talk. Studies and data have shown that people convicted of heinous crimes are just as likely to have 2 strikes as not. It doesn't deter people with 2 strikes from doing what they''re gonna do. And some of the worst crimes have come from people with no record at all, so what exactly does it prove or accomplish
