BEST:

5. Vikings
4. Giants
3. Titans
2. Eagles
1. Cowboys

Lots of NFC East teams have really impressed me. Eagles more so than anyone not named Dallas. Vikings are going to win a lot of games this year, Giants have looked good enough to be 3-0, and the Titans are looking solid on both sides of the ball.

WORST:

5. Browns
4. Bengals
3. Lions
2. Chiefs
1. Rams

It's hard to decide between the Chiefs and Rams. None of these teams are going to sniff the playoffs and the Browns' only hope is to get Brady Quinn in there. Resigning Anderson and giving him the starting spot was the dumbest front office move this offseason.

1. Dallas - Hands down best team. Talented on both sides of ball. Last nights defensive performance made them clear cut favorite.
2. Tennessee - Wins with defense and now with Collins at qb he can manage the game better than Vince.
3. New York Giants - Defending champs don't get talked about, but they have the track record to show they have the talent to get it done.
4. Buffalo - Solid defensive team that can run the ball. The 2 most important things in football.
5. Philly - If Westbrook and McNabb stay healthy, and can get a receiver to step up (Desean Jackson so far) they will be a tough out, esp with Jim Johnson as the DC.

1. St. Louis - Least points scored and most points given up. Enough said.
2. Kansas City - Worst quarterback in the history of the league combined with a shit defense is bad news.
3. Detroit - Starts with leadership from above trickling down to the field.
4. Cincinatti - For the most part pretty talent, but leadership and chemistry problems doom them.
5. Cleveland - Is Anderson a fluke? 1 good yr and he gets a big contract. May be time for Brady. Not a fan of Crennel either.

You seriously think Buffalo is better than Philly?

Tennesee is not better than the Colts or Chargers. Record means nothing to me. The Colts would spank Tenn in a playoff game

Only if they get their offensive line healthy. If not I think they get hurt against the Titans. Tenn can score on the Colts since the Colts can't stop the run and the Titans are dominant in the run game. Without Peyton passing to keep the game close the Titans win and right now he doesn't have the offensive line to give him enough time.

After week 6 or 7 when the Colts get their starting offensive line healthy, it's very possible Indy takes it but if they met up next week you have to think the Titans win.

PS, I liked all of homedawg's rankings with the exception of Buffalo. IMO their offense is average and their defense is slightly below average. Just another .500 team really. Not high on the Bills.

cant argue with most of your picks especially on the bad side but not one person has mentioned Denver to this point, Cutler is the real deal, true they got a gift from hocule and barely held on vs NO, but winning is the name of the game and it looks like they will do a lot of that for years to come.

The offense looks great but the defense has holes on top of more holes. High-scoring teams can be amongst the league's elite but I don't think Denver's offense is quite as good as it has looked and the defense will eventually hurt them bad. I'd say 9-7 or 10-6 and get bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs.

1. titans - they have the D to shut anyone down
2. giants - dropped a spot this week
3. cowboys - romo still mistake prone and the defense is suspect but they still have to be above the eagles.
4. eagles - they are only going to get better and that offense may be able to outscore anyone not named dallas (ripping off jake's line)
5. broncos - sure they should be 2-1 but they are looking like they could post a 13-3 by the time it is all said and done.

Denver could easily be 1-2 right now. Should have lost against SD and barely held on against NO. I don't think that puts them in the elite top 5 category personally.

38 points per game and no one to stop them in the AFC except maybe jax or buffalo and they get both at home. they could easily be the number one seed in the AFC when it is all said and done.

they are more elite then a vikings team that is going to have a beat up peterson by week 8 or 9 and GUS FREROTTE as the QB... not to mention they are 1-2... not exactly top 5 material there Jakey.

They lost home against Tampa, home against Jax, @New England, @Carolina, @SD, and maybe home against Buffalo although the Bills are even more overrated than Denver right now.

I say 11-5 on second thought. Their schedule is quite the joke.

Minnesota could go into Denver and win outright. I'd put them as a favorite in Denver.

and you would lose. after week 2 when they were 0-2 would you have put them in the top 5?

if you answer no then you are willing to tell me a win over carolina at home with frerotte is enough to propel them to the top 5? over a team that is 3-0?

denver puts up 20 more points a game than minny... 20 points.

minny outscores their opponents by .7 points. they get out passed by 50 yards a game.

so if you are saying that the addition of frerotte and a home win is enough to make a 0-2 team top 5 material then i can't argue with that.

Cleveland is not as bad as they've looked. Any team that begins the season playing against Dallas, Pitt and at Baltimore would look they way they have....

Minnesota has been without a big part of their team (McKinnie) and has been playing with a QB who can't hit the broad side of a barn. Frerrotte is ancient but when given time he can hit his WRs which Jackson could not do. Once McKinnie gets back they will be among the best offenses in the NFL. The difference betweem them and Denver is that the Vikings have a top defense while Denver can't stop anyone.

Will expand on this later girlfriend calling...

nothing to expand on jake. your point is that the change to gus frerotte makes the vikes a top 5 team. i think that is nutty.

if your statement is that they will be a top 5 team once they get McKinnie then that does not make a lot of since either. this is not a preseason rating... you cannot rate a team that is without someone.

you also cannot put someone who is 1-2 with gus frerotte as their QB as a top 5 team.

we have seen teams like denver for a long time now... the rams and then the colts... teams who game plan to out score you and then do it. and those teams have not faired well in big playoff games but they have always been among the top 5 teams during the regular season.

i don't think the vikes are in the top 7 or 8 much less the top 5.

The Vikes will be an average team until they get a new QB.

This team is no better then they were last year...

1. Giants Can't disrepect the Super Bowl Champs.

2. Dallas Have the offense but can they figure out the Giants

3. Chargers Don't let their start fool you. They did this last year and should have been playing in the SB vs. the Giants!

4. Eagles As good as they are they may not make the wild card game.

5. Jaguars Slow start but they will be like the Chargers.

jags are the only one i will disagree with even though i think the chargers are way too high.

jags are f'ed on the o'line. they beat indy but indy could easily be 0-3 right now. jags will not finish the season in the top 10 much less the top 5.
