Most of it is due to the Chargers bringing a ton of coverage back in prevent and letting the Jets have the underneath stuff. Favre is just taking what the defense is giving him rather than throw into double or triple coverage downfield. SD was letting him take his chances earlier in the game when they were blitzing constantly but they were getting to him before he could throw.
