Seems worthwhile to me, just need to know what kind of line up the Cubs are putting out today.

I agree does look like a trap, Mets have so much more to play for, but in my opinion mets are worse when they really need to win.

I doubt Lou will over extend any of his pitchers the next couple of games. Maybe even a pitch count on Harden and Z.

I think Z will try to finish the season better then his previous 1 2/3 innings start. think he rebounds and cubs first 5 may be the play - :toast:BOL

something is not right with Z and the lines reflects this. he won't go more than 6 innings tonight. i'd take the mets again tonight.

CHICAGO -- Johnny Vander Meer's record is safe. There was no repeat no-hitter for Carlos Zambrano on Friday. There was no whiff of champagne for the Cubs either.
Zambrano, who had flown to Venezuela Wednesday after his grandmother died, didn't last through the second inning as Adam Kennedy hit a grand slam in the first to spark the St. Louis Cardinals to a 12-6 victory Friday over the Cubs.

I dont know if everyone is aware of this, but he was in Venezuela the Weds before he got torched by the Cardinals. Im not making any excises for the guy, but after tossing a no hitter then having to fly all the way down there for a funeral...he couldnt have been mentally in that game.

I would assume that he would probably be in a better spot mentally today. Im not going to try and play the shrink role, but I would assume that his whole mental mind frame was a bit out of whack going all the way down to Venezuela to handle a funeral wherein Im sure he is the one that funded and had to do many of the things for the family considering his wealth. Im also assuming that if he went down there on Wednesday then he probably wasnt on his normal routine in terms of throwing in between starts and working out. I guess I was jsut posting that to say that he probably had other things on his mind during preperation. If you have seen Carlos pitch, you know what a mental midget he is, and I dont think it would be that far fetched to say his strange week had something to do with his poor outing. I dont know, jsut trying to help.

Check the lineup before you lock in the play. If the Cubs play the same lineup last night or worse then the Mets will roll.

Z will be a mental mess again tonight b/c he is projected to be the #3 starter in the playoffs. he will probably try to hard tonight and walk and hit batters. not good with the mets line-up.

besides the mental issues with the funeral there is fatigue
to fly to venezuela and turn around and fly home the next day, and then pitch the next day has to take it out of you
it's about 8-10 hours of travel in each direction
