Playoffs
The playoffs begin in November. After the regular season, the top team from each division has an automatic home berth in the Division Final, and a bye week during the Division Semifinal. The second-place team from each division hosts the third-place team in the Division Semifinal, unless a fourth-place team from one division finishes with a better record than a third place team in the other (this provision is known as the crossover rule, and while it implies that it is possible for two teams in the same division to play for the Grey Cup, no crossover team has ever won the Semifinal game). The winners of each Division's Semifinal game then travel to play the first place teams in the Division Finals. Since 2005, the Division Semifinals and Division Finals have been sponsored by Scotiabank.[14] The two division champions then face each other in the Grey Cup game, which is held on the third or fourth Sunday of November.

montreal is currently 8-4, and are basically a lock to win the division, they wold have to go 0-4, and winnipeg or Toronto would have to go 4-0 in order for them to lose division title in regular season. Even then, it would be a tiebreaker, not sure on the tiebreaker rules. Montreal plays Hamilton (2-12) twice out of their 4 remaining games, and are a 6.5 point favorite this weekend against sasktchewan.

Montreal will get a BYE in the first round of the playoffs and will jump right to the division final game, they will likely be quite a heavy favorite in this game. Anyone who took a shot on Montreal at +350 will be able to take a shot on the Point Spread Dog in this game and hope for a middle. Ideally montreal would win the game, but not cover, so you could pick up some nice cash on the way to the final game if everything goes perfectly.

Assuming montreal can win the division Final, which should be easy as they will be a heavy favorite, you now have Montreal +350 in the grey cup.

Now the Grey Cup this year just happens to be in Montreal, so it will be a home game.... 60 000 rabid fans at the Big O will cheer on the team.

Regardless of wether they win or lose the big game, they will surely be the favorite in the big game. They will be at least a 2 or 3 point Favorite, if not more against BC or Calgary the best teams in the west. So you can hedge the final, either go with the western team + the ponts or the Western team on the ML.

*** Of course any major injury to Calvillo or other key montreal personel, and all is over, but heck, that is why they call i gambling***

Now I get it. Thanks for the tip. Intertops only allows $110 on it, so gonna fire for fun. Thanks again and good luck

So are these mistake odds? Why r they +350?

post # 4 are the regular season games left for montreal, note how they have (2-12) hamilton twice, and (4-8) toronto once. They are also -6.5 this weekend against sasketchawan. In other words they will be big favorites in each of their final 4 games. It would be a miracle, even if Calvillo did get hurt, for Montreal not to win the division now, this = a very important bye week and launches them directly to semi-final

they are by no means "mistake odds" the lines are good, there are some other books out there that have +300, its just a good bet IMO. But the books know that anything can happen. Montreal needs to get by 4 more regular season games without injurines, that in and of itself is a challenge.

I heard that there was a good chance that whichever West team crossed over would be favored in both games in the Eastern playoffs. Whatcha think?

possible, but to me that would only happen if Montreal seriously struggles down the stretch or sustains injury....

I mean there is big chance that a top notch team from the west winds up being a crossover team which woudnt be that good.

but take a look at the current odds, Edmonton who is a top team was a 3.5 point dog in montreal last week and montreal won the game 40-4

now this weekend SASK who is also a favorite to win the cup is +6.5 this weekend in montreal.

Now I realize that Calgary and BC are probably better than Edmonton and Sask, but I still think montreal will be the fav in both games.

The "crossover rule" for sure reduces the value of the bet overall.

I had already done some at +350 earlier this week not realizing the rule change. Odds are now +325 at Intertops. 5dimes had it @ +350 earlier this week too. They now have it @ +300. I popped a little more on them.

I agree that they will likely win the division, although it is not quite yet automatic. The 2 way tiebreaker is season series W - L. They have already beaten Winnipeg and Toronto twice each with one to go against each, so they will win any 2 game tiebreaker. I think that means they only need to win 2 more games to clinch the division and they have 2 left vs. Hamilton so that pretty much does it. I think the value in this bet is that people are counting on a crossover win in the first round. The team to cross over in the CFL since they started this rule has never won a single playoff game(0-4, i believe). So if that trend were to continue the Als would be a big home fav in the east final. Getting to the grey cup and play it at home looks from here to be a slam dunk. The true test for them will come on Grey cup Sunday, any team that proves to be the best of the West should be favorite in the final.

montreal dismantles Sasketchewan 37-12 as a 6.5 point favorite.

Those who say "the west is best" may want to reconsider.

40-4 over edmonton last week

37-12 over Saskatchewan this week

First place a virtual lock first in division now I imagine

Despite losing to Hamilton 2 weeks ago, montreal won first in the division. (Its guaranteed)

They lost a hard faught game where they showed tremendous signs becuase they came back after being down big.

Yesterday was the rematch between montreal and hamilton, and despite the fact that montreal literally has nothing to play for till playoffs, they destroyed them, 44-11 or something like that.

Basically need to coast till playoffs now and hope for no injuries.

well its the semi final match up is now set.

It will be Edmonton vs Montreal for the east final. Edmonton is the first ever team in history to win the cross over game.

Last time these two met montreal won 40-4, but I expect a different result this time as ricky ray is a proven QB.

should be a good match.

Lines will come out on monday.

well, I probably would have preferred winnipeg, but It wasnt a big deal either way. The edmonton winnipeg game was basically a Pick em, coz winnipeg was -2.5 at home.

Im not 100% sure wether the semi final is inside at the Big O, or outdoors.
