Why do posters post unavailable #s? A game or games will "move" 3 or 4 hours earlier, and a selection will be released at the "hot" #. Who does it benefit? Do they honestly don't know what the market is, or are they just worried about having a better record. In these cases, I don't even think they have made a wager on the game. What are the newbies and inexperienced bettors supposed to do? Some of the most respected posters are the most guilty. How about this line! "I played it earlier in the week." d1g1t :ohno:

My advice is to ignore those type of posters.

This forum is a free forum, no one is charged anything to post here and some people take advantage of that and post whatever they want. With hundreds of posters making picks everyday it is bound to happen.

I have been posting this policy statement for over three years on the various sport froums when they are in season and also in indivicual threads when it is brought to my attention that posters are using stale lines.

Attention Handicappers - Please use WA (Widely Available) numbers.

<HR style="COLOR: #fdde82" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->When you post a pick please use numbers that are widley available at the time of you're post. WA or widley available lines make it easy for everyone to use the play. I have recieved several E-mails asking me to make an announcement.

Remember this is not a popularity contest but a handicapping forum - lets make it as easy as possible for everyone to participate. If you use free half point outs simply state so.

Laying -6 at 7AM yourself then posting that same pick at the same -6 when it is up to -7 or 7.5 by 4PM when you get a chance to post helps no one. There is no -6 to be had and -7 or -7.5 is a long way off -6.

The same goes for baseball posting a favorite at -125 when you played it the night before and saying it is a play when the game is now -145 the next afternoon when you post does little good for anyone. Remember post the number that is widley available for all at the time of you're post.

Thanks, Rx.com Mod Team..

People just want to show off, and never be wrong. The fact that the number doesn't matter 83% of the time escapes them because they don't know the facts. If they get lucky and catch the winner in that 17% window, it just shows how smart they are. The fact that any follower couldn't get the number really doesn't matter to them at all, just as long as it shows up as a credit to them.:think2:

It happens all the time-always has.

It's not hard to tell who the frauds are, and when you see someone consistently claiming stale #'s that are long gone, that should be clue #1.

As far as I'm concerned, if you don't post a play with a current line-it's worthless and shouldn't even be posted.

How about these two. 1) Upgrading a play at the same #, even though it moved 4 pts three days ago. 2) Getting off a total(weather related), even though it's moved 3 pts. :youmad:

The problem is the sheer numbers of posters who post their plays. Last Saturday for the day there were 293 different threads active in the College Football Forum with over 90% of them containing plays posted by various posters using various lines.

I'm open to suggestions.

Call them out, or send them down the road. I worry about newbies and inexperinced gamblers who follow these high-profile posters. How about when they buy points up to -30 or -40? It is a recipe for disaster!

This is a free forum, I have no manpower to monitor thousands of posts a week between all the varius sport forums.

If you really are concerned there is a triangular icon at the bottom left of every post box. When you see a post where you feel the handicapper is using unavailable lines simply click on the icon and type something simple like bad lines or unavailable lines. That will cause the post to be brought to my attention and I will definitely take care of the poster posting these bad lines.

Here is a typical post from the College Football Forum posted and hour and a half ago.

Right now I am the only moderator working. Since I started around 5AM EDT I have registered 22 new posters, banned two pornographers, and made sure there were no shills and spammers peddeling their goods on anyone of our 2 dozen sport and discussion forums.

wil, I respect the massive job you have on your hands. I probably shouldn't have started this thread, because none of this nonsense has any effect on me. At least I left it out of the college forum. Good Luck

I have been a member here for quite some time and this is the number 1 question that I have always had also. Why bother posting if you won't post the number you got and you won't keep track of your record properly. One of the "biggest stars" at EOG does this all the time and the mods never say a word. Buys points on EVERY game and no juice for them.

I've never been over to EOG(loyal to the RX), but is the poster NY Reb? I called him out one time at the RX, and I got abused by all the squares and coattailers. Good Luck

You got it. I used to call him, Chuck Luck, and Co-Capt all the time with the bogus lines and records. Same thing happened to me with the squares. You would have thought I was taking their first born away from them.

Chuck Luck is banned from the forum and Co-Capt is restricted to The Site Promotions only.

Bellyputter -- what's happening? How have you been? Okie State looking strong right now (although they have yet to play someone with a pulse)...

p.s. Take a long hard look at Kentucky today, +15 (Would not be surprised with an outright UK win.)

In all honesty I think some of the posters don't even play the games that they post.
Especially that guy out on the left coast that likes to watch 8 year old boys
