The reason I like the Brewers so much in this one is because of their pitching. Gallardo's arm is fresh and his last outing was very impressive in my eyes. He was sharp with his location, and his movement was as if he hadnt missed a beat. He wont go long, but that isnt a bad thing. Seth McClung has been dominating, and he is sure to be the first one in for this Brewers pen. He has been awesome the last 2 weeks, and I love the stuff he features. His mid 90s fastball with solid off-speed pitches are tough for any batter to get a hold of in one or two at-bats. He has the arm to be a starter, but after 3 or 4 innings his stuff gets flat and he gets hurt.
Even though the Brewers depenable lefty Shouse has struggled Stutter has proved to be a very tough pitcher and I love that no Phillies batters have seen him yet this year. The same goes for DeFelice and Coffee, both of who I expect to see today. The Phillies havent seen any of these guys, and I see them having very productive appearances in this series.
The thing about the Brewers is that they have hit Hamels in the past. The Phillies ballpark is set up for power hitters, and thats exactly what the Brewers have. We will see the line-up that has Hall and Weeks along with the other usuals. I think that since moving Cameron to the top of the line-up the Brewers have been rejuvenated all through the line-up.
I love the energy that Svuem has brought to this team and loosness that he has allowed them to play with. When he took the job, he told his team that "baseball is a hard game and I remember that. Dont hang your head if you swing at a bad pitch of make a mistake, just give me 100% effort." Thats what the Brewers have done. This team was under so much pressure with the city of Milwaukee dying to get back in the playoffs and Yost breathing down their throats at all times. They are loose now and their play reflects it. I expect the Brewers to get 6 or 7 today and the pitching staff to keep this vaunted Phillies line-up in check.

The reason I like the Dodgers today is because I think this one is going to be low scoring and both pitchers will put out great performances. If Lowe doesnt get too excited and kep his sinker near the knees, the Cubs will chance those balls all day long.
I see this one being tight when things go to the bullpens, and I have to say I give the Dodgers an advantage after that. Its not because the Dodgers exactly have a better pen, but because the Cubs have struggled to hit pitchers from the pen all year long. They just cant get anything going when those guys come in the game.
However, on the other hand the Cubs pen is struggling. They havent been truly tested in about a week, and I dont trust guys like Marmol or Wood to throw strikes when all jacked up in front of the home crowd. I think this is going to be a tight game, and walks out of the pen could really haunt the Cubs as it has all year long. The Cubs are going to be under an enormous amount of pressure today. The place will be absolutely rocking, and the Cubs roster is full of players that will chase balls in the dirt from a sinker baller like Lowe.
The Cubs have also had issues all season long with hitting into DPs. I guarentee you they hit into at least 2 of them today. Unless the Cubs are going to be hitting home runs, I tihnk they struggle to manufactor runs against the Dodgers. Considering that Lowe has give up JUST ONE homer in his last 10 starts, I think the Cubs will struggle big time getting runs across the plate against him. The Dodgers win an ugly one here.

Unfortunately both those players were call-ups and they didn't make the playoff roster.
I would expect Yo to make 4 or 5 innings and then we'll get a healthy dose of McClung or Bush. And with the way McClung pitched in his last appearance, perhaps he can capture some of that intensity again. Sveum has told the players to play with a football-like mentality and McClung has seemed to embrace that philosophy.

They would have lost to the Durham Bulls during those periods. The thing about the Brewers is that they can get red hot too. I think they are playing with a ton of confidance right now. We shall see what happens.

Philadelphia - Phillies leftfielder Pat Burrell was scheduled to appear in the interview room before Game 1 of the NLDS today but we just received notice that the team trainer is coming instead.
Burrell suffered lower back stiffness during batting practice yesterday and left the field. He obviously is staying in the clubhouse for treatment rather than coming to the interview room. The Phillies also have not posted their lineup, so they're probably waiting on Burrell's status.
If Burrell can't play, it would take a big bat out of the Phillies' lineup. He hit 33 home runs and drove in 86 runs this season. If he is scratched, perhaps Philly would put former Brewer Geoff Jenkins in the lineup? That would be pretty ironic, huh?
It would be HUGE if Burrell doesn't go.
Yo is a breaking-ball pitcher and Burrell is slugging .595 in 190 ABs vs. breaking-ball right handed pitchers since last year.
I just don't think Yo goes more than 4 or 5. His stuff just can't last unless he gets quick innings.
