Will New England keep treating Matt Cassel like a pee-wee QB all year?

Why have this guy as your backup if you dont believe in his ability to go out and win the game for you?

Its funny that Cassel is under strict orders to throw the ball in the ground if nothing is there. Hes done it like 6 times tonight.

Even now as they get blown out, he just doesnt look comfortable.

They need to let him be a QB. The guy has talent. I'm not even a Pats fan but I've had enough of these 6-yard pass plays they design for him.

I have Moss on fantasy thats all. Waste of a #1 pick. Let him go out there and throw it around for cripe sake. You can tell Cassel is so scared to do something hes not allowed to do. They need to tell him fuk it go wing it around.

He is only capable of making at best 2 reads. By the time he gets to his third read, he is either in the grasp or he is throwing it away.

Too bad because the team as a whole is not as bad as Cassell is making them look.

the way their D is playing, they are going to have to allow him to throw the ball downfield more. i've given Belicheck major props all these years for being some kind of X's and O's offensive genius and now i'm eating those words.

another thing...i understand Maroney isn't playing tonight, but when he is suited up, give him the goddamn ball...dude was a beast down the stretch last year. now they give him the ball 5 times in the first half and if he only gets like 15 yards they completely give up on him. it's bullshit.

He has not been running North/South all year. He likes to dance around and not take too many hits.

You see that Morris and Faulk are carrying the ball more. They are willing to take hits. I think that may be the problem. JMO.

The Patriots have never shown to be an elite run-stopping unit. Last year the stats looked good but it was because teams were not able to run down by so much. You counter defensive issues against the run by scoring and the play-calling for the Patriots this season has been way too conservative. That's my theory anyway. It's been a coaching error more than anything.

Another ball into the ground. LOL.

I think they are trying to turn Cassel into a Trent Dilfer type of game manager right now... not realizing that their team won with offense and by forcing the other team to try and keep up.

I honestly think this is just bad coaching that will be figured out.

They cant run it. Put his ass in shotgun and run a no huddle. Not like you got anything to lose at this point.

Well, its now official...Cassel just blows.

They clearly do not trust him to make throws down the field.

Its a wonder why they even dress Randy Moss anymore. Best athlete on the field for you still and no attempt is made to get him the ball.

ZERO POCKET AWARENESS WITH CASSEL. ZILCHO.

Looks lost in the clouds whenever they show him too. Cant believe NE didnt go get a Kerry Collins, Charlie Batch, Billy Volek type of backup.

Cutler has no running game and two of his targets are hurt in Scheffler & Stokely.

He smacked his hand twice and is clearly not right.

Cassell had his best game of the year tonight. His learning curve has been tremendous. Look for the coaches to loosen up the reins. Casell has been improving on a game to game basis.

Better to have 6 sacks and 0 INTs and throwing it away, than 4 sacks and 2 INT's any day. The kid gets it,the coaches say,
"Do anything but DO NOT throw an INT."

Cassell confidence shot up today.

did ne even attempt a pass over 15 yards?

He had a few. They also designed some deep routes for Moss where Cassel just didn't have time to throw. Denver's defense can pass rush a little bit and Cassel does make slower reads than Tom Brady. They were at least trying more to get guys open deep. I like what I saw and think Cassel will have lots of freedom to throw it deep against teams that can't pass rush from here on out.

I believe they moved Cassel into the "scout in training" version of the playbook last night. What next! :think2:
