my book is offering tampa bay -1.5 +250 today
it is also offering tampa bay to win by exactly by 1 at +650

if tampa bay wins i automatically win one of those bets.
isn't this better than getting the +122 they are offering on tampa bay for the ml? i win 1.5 units if they win by more than one, and 5.5 units if they win by just 1. instead of 1.22 units if they win and i play them ml.

interesting. It would appear that way, but you are then risking two total units, so if the rays lose, you lost 2 units instead of 1. So, if you play the money line with the same risk, your win is actually 2.44. so no, its not worth it.

what about the possibility of them winning by one. that would yield a 5.5 unit gain instead of 2.44? either way if tampa wins its profitable.

yeah, but the point is by betting both, you're risking 2 units. If you want to risk 2 units for that potential profit, then by all means, do so. If not, just bet 0.5 unit on each. I'm not going to tell you how much to bet, I'm just pointing out that to actually make money (more than just your total risk on the regular ML) you really need the EXACTLY 1 to come through, explaining why the juice is +650.

Personally, I'm on the Sox tonight, so one of us should be a winner. Best of luck to you.

ok, yeah i think its probably not worth it after looking at it closer. i could lose out on roughly a unit by not taking the ml and taking both of those bets instead. if i lose out on a unit by not taking the ml thats like risking a unit. and the 5.5 unit gain isnt rewarded when im getting +650 odds.
