I have never played baseball, but watched it all my life so don't blast me for this question.

If I am a hitter and I have the the pitcher 3-0. Why not force the pitcher to throw me 3 strikes in a row without me swinging.

If the pitcher throws one more ball, I take my base......never understood why a batter starts swinging away when the pitcher is down 3-0

you arent supposed to swing at 3-0, some just feel really good chance of getting a strike so they take a swing, but 3-0 you take a ball.

Only power hitters should swing at a 3-0 pitch. Even then, I would never advise swinging 3-0. Carlos Pena did it in Game 1 and got out, which sucked for me because the Rays were somewhat making a rally late in the game.
