Ever since the postseason started, I looked at the Boston Team and said damn their lineup was missing something. Yes they beat the Angels but it is just weird without seeing the name Manny Ramirez on the 4 spot. Big Papi and then Manny is the best 3 4 hitters on a team.

When i am watching any Boston red sox game now, they just don't look like a Red Sox team that is dominant. I didn't even watch the game tonight and came home and see they were down 11-1:nohead:.

Yes i know they got Jason Bay and 2 guys name Pedroia and Ellsbury but this team feels incomplete. Its like when Manny isn't there, there is no PRESENCE:ohno:. I don't feel anything with this team when Manny isn't there.

When i think of the Boston Red Sox, I feel that Manny was the face of the Red Sox even more so than Ortiz. Yes Dice K and Beckett are the most recognizable pitchers on the team but I don't see a Red Sox team unless they have both Ortiz and Manny. Maybe its their names that I value more than pitchers but I just don't understand how you can get rid of Manny. If i lived in boston and attended their games, i probably wouldn't go to their games anymore b/c the face of the red sox was not their. It was his attitude and his Manny being Manny that made me liked this Boston team a lot.

If the Red Sox gave away Beckett and Dice K but still have Manny, then I feel like their team is still the red sox. Its like Lakers losing Kobe Bryant but have Odom and Gasol and they won't feel like the Lakers anymore.

I don't know why but this Boston Red Sox team doesn't even strike fear anymore without Manny Ramirez on the team. I am a Yankee fan but like the Sox as well. But when they got rid of Manny, I thought this team lost their name because I feel Boston Red Sox is NOTHING without Manny.

Big papi is a bust without Manny...Manny made him...people love to hate Manny but he's straight up legit...best hitter I've watched...I'm young but...yeah...best I've ever seen.

Manny's team is doing no better right now. People need to stop blaming this on the Sox, and start giving respect to a damn good Tampa Bay Rays team.

You are a Yankee fan, you know nothing a bout Redsox fan. I am a die hard RedSox fan, let me tell you about Manny. He quit his Sox team, not the team quit him. So they decided and vote him out before Upper people traded him to LA. Give TB credit because they play better. I bet on them tonight too, made +120 at my local.

Who ever said I did not give Tampa Bay Credit. I know the Rays are the better team this year. The only point i wanted to make was this Boston team lost its red sox nation image when they traded manny away.

I also want to see Tampa Bay beat these Red Sox b/c this Red Sox team doesn't seem enjoyable to watch without Manny. I mean i dont want to see the Red Sox in the World Series when you have Papi and Jason Bay. Bay, nor Ellsbury has that presence i am talking about with Manny with that cocky and what ever attitude he has. Manny always makes it to the news. Even when he doesn't hustle like most players do at a ball or run as fast, it is just fun to watch this guy.

Face it, Manny is the face of baseball when it comes to hitting and attidude. No one comes close to him right now.

Ergo: Then the Dodgers are something with Manny?
Think maybe Beckett AND Lester getting bombed has something to do with it?

Well its just weird seeing Manny in a dodger uniform. The thing is you have the best hitter in baseball but putting him on the dodgers team when most of the hitters are not that good doesn't help him.

Yes, Ethier and Kemp will be great players in a few years but they are still young which shows why their team isn't going to win the series against the Phillies.

Look at that Red Sox lineup when you have Drew batting firs then Pedroia. Most likely you will get a runner on and then Papi. But if Papi doesn't get a hit, you still have Manny next. Right now, they have Youkilis who is a decent player but no where near Manny Ramirez as a hitter. They essentially gave up the best hitter in baseball. Who cares if Manny had problm with the team, he is the face of baseball.

That's ridiculous.

Jason Bay has been every bit as good as Manny Ramirez.

This series is pinned squarely on the shoulders of Terry Francona; if he takes out Beckett early as we all knew he should in game two, the series is likely 2-2 or 3-1 Sox.

The Rays could very well be the better team, but the Red Sox aren't this bad.

Think back to last month, The RedSox nation was nervous because of the chemistry of the team. Trading Manny was only the option that team can make the playoff. Many RedSox fans still love Manny till now, but probably will boo him when he come to batting plate. The way he is playing now make RedSox nation getting bitter, but life is goes on, can not look back, because it could be worst.

Manny is the best hitter in baseball? Did A-Rod retire and I just don't know about it? Pujols too? I'd take those two any day over Manny. A-Rod is the greatest baseball talent of all time, people just don't give him the respect because they don't like him as a person.

Also, don't the Red Sox have a better record without Manny this year? Ortiz was doing zero with him there this year too, so I wouldn't say Manny makes or breaks Ortiz. Ortiz is just having a bad year, that happens.

a-rod is a better all around player (maybe best all round player of all time) but manny is a better hitter.

the red sox are a more professional team...without manny

his antics at times brought smiles to the faces of the fans and his teammates...but at other times those antics and comments made those same parties shudder and question what he actually was thinking...

manny is all about manny....fans could put up with his "style" of play as long as the W's keep rolling in....however, manny...just being manny....will always put an end to it because he is so self centered.....the least he could do would be to accept his 20 million and keep his personal and physical attacks to himself....

he is a great hitter....not a great player...and not even close to a good person...:puke1::grandmais

The Sox averaged 4.9 runs per game until Manny left, then averaged 6 runs per game thereafter-not to mention played markedly better overall. Doesn't sound indispensable to me. Sometimes a team gets old right and brittle in front of your eyes, and that may have happened to them: they don't have Lowell, who was last year's MVP in the Series, and when you have FOUR pretty imporant players who seem like a shadow of their former selves-Ortiz, Varitek, Wakefield, Beckett-you're gonna have problems. I think it's pointless to speculate what would've happened had they kept Manny, because they wouldn't have gotten IN if they'd kept him. When you have that much talent and your teammates go to management and say, get this guy the fuck OUT of here, you've been pretty disruptive.

You are one of the most knowledgeable, and absolutely right.

exactly, noone's been giving tampa any respect, not even after all the success they've had, not only in the regular season..but surprisingly for a young team, they've continued it in the post season. not only their pitching anf hitting, but their defense is incredible.
