If you own a small business (or work for a processor company), can you give some details on CC/Debit/EBT/Gift Card processors. A friend opened an auto parts store in a small town and is looking at the options. He has talked to one company so far with a CC qualified transaction rate of 1.79% and a debit rate of 80 cents or 1% + .25 transaction fee. That seems high but i don't really know. Anybody?

you can find much better rates then .25. i believe mine is around .12. consider not taking American Express as their rates are much higher. Those are the only cards i do not accept.

If there is a local board of trade or something similar in your area that you can join, they often have nice member perks including great rates on CC processing for members. May cost a couple hundred bucks to join up for the year but it's worth it. Something to look into.

An englishman giving lessons on healthy eating? You'd find a way to deep fry the pork fat and serve it with chips swimming in vinegar.
