Going with an Exacta Box in Race Nine - The BC Classic. Boxing Curlin, with The Duke Of Marmalade. Naturally I will be rooting for 10-1 Euro import Duke of M. to bring it home for a much better price than if Curlin ends up on top..
Curlin, what can you say, he won this $5-million Classic race last year, in the mud at Monmouth Park. There won't be any mud on the synthetic surface at Santa Anita today. Curlin definitely will be favored and rightly so, to make a score we need him to not win the race but place instead of win.
Euro contender Duke Of Marmalade runs well at this distance (mile and a quarter) and should have plenty of run left during stretch drive. Duke should benefit from the zero tolerence policy of no steroids or drugs of any kind at this year's BC. At 10-1 an upset with the Duke on top will yield a nice Exacta price.
