Recived this morning, from Doyles Room

Dear Player,

We have received notice from our poker software provider that as of Thursday, October 30th, they will begin blocking connections from 13 U.S. states based on IP address.

If your internet service provider is based in one of the following 13 states, you may or may not be affected by this change:

Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Wisconsin, Washington and Kentucky.

Blocked connections will receive an error message upon attempting to login to the poker client. Please read the Common Concerns below and if you believe your connection to the poker client is being blocked in error, please contact customer service immediately at support@dbpn.com so that we may assist you in logging into your account.

Common Concerns:

1. I am not in one of the states above will there be any difference in my connecting to the poker client?
No, your account will not be affected.
2. What is an IP address? An IP address is assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). All users of the internet are assigned an IP address. This address can be used to roughly determine the geographic location of your ISP. The address returned from a lookup of your IP address is actually the address of your ISP rather than your physical address. This discrepancy may cause some players that are not from a blocked state to appear as though they are from a blocked state.
3. I am not attempting to connect from one of the 13 states above, but I am still having problems logging into the poker client. What should I do? We apologize for this inconvenience. State lookups based on your IP address are not always accurate. Please send an email to support@dbpn.com with your login name and a brief description of your problem.
4. I am not from one of the 13 states but I am traveling to one of them. Will I be able to connect? There is a chance that you will not be able to connect if you are travelling to one of the 13 states listed above. Please contact support@dbpn.com if you are traveling through one of the states and are having a problem logging into your account.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes you and urge you to contact our 24 hour support services if you have any further questions. http://www.doylesroom.com/support

I think this is STRICTLY a Doyle's Room thing from what I have read. I am in Nevada and have logged into all of my 15 offshore accounts this morning with no problem and have heard nothing of this other then from the Doyles Room people.

Worse, the enforcement of the law banning online sports wagering in the United States goes into effect very shorty.............

Not sure many here are aware of that.

You think I'm freezing in Florida???

Having said that, a comped buffet sounds a helluva lot better than paying $8.95 for 10 chicken wings or a crappy grouper sandwich.

:lolBIG:

Florida food sucks!!!

Yes, and brings about ENFORCEMENT to the UIGEA bill that was passed in 2006.

Horrible

I would not be caught dead betting sports offshore at this time.

Poker, that's a different story.

I think ONLINE POKER will be 100% legal very shortly(1-3 years).

couple questions here.

1. If a user were to use a proxy address, could the blocked gaming site still not pay due to the home address being within the banned state? Also, if they see your proxy is from a country like russia or england, could they possibly ban your account for multiple id's logging on to the account?

2. Does anybody have the list of banned sites that are going to be affected by this?

Thanks.

This is only DoylesRoom and the network they are on. They havent allowed many states since UIGEA. I can sign up at Doyles Room right now but they wont let me make a deposit...apparently now i wont be able to go to the site at all...No big change in anything. This is what some companies are doing in response to the Kentucky bullshit domain name seizure case...
Whats going to happen there is day to day, worst case all the sites have to rename themselves like BDog did...
As far as the UIGEA it doesnt make bettin illegal , that already is according to the justice dept under the 1961 wire act....It just makes some fund transfers illegal and the transferer responsible...And to the best of my knowledge there have been NO strict guidelines handed down yet for the enforcement of same. And with several bills going forward to block its implementation it may never be enforced...
I cant believe that anybody thinks that with Democrats in all 3 houses ONLINE GAMBLING IN ALL ITS FORMS WONT BE WIDE ASS OPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats REAL CHANGE BABY!!!!!!!

If anything, online gambling my progress towards a direction that benefits poker, but I don't see sports betting have as bright of a future. Personally, I hope it does remain underground.
