Alfredsson signs 4-year deal with Ottawa

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) -The Ottawa Senators re-signed captain Daniel Alfredsson to a 4-year contact Thursday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Ottawa Sun reported it was worth $22 million.
The 35-year-old Alfredsson has 334 goals and 856 points in 861 career regular-season games with the Senators. He has spent his entire career with Ottawa and served as the team's captain since 1999.
"The Senators organization and the city of Ottawa have embraced both me and my family as part of this community," Alfredsson said in a statement. "It's an exciting time for our family to know that we'll be able to spend the rest of my NHL career in Ottawa."
The Senators play the Florida Panthers on Thursday night.
Alfredsson, a five-time NHL all-star, has three goals and six assists this season. He was a member of Sweden's gold medal-winning 1996 Olympic team.
"Daniel is the type of person and player that we want to continue building this franchise around," Senators general manager Bryan Murray said. "We are happy to have him here to lead our team towards the goal of bringing a Stanley Cup to Ottawa."
