Sir Charles was on Conan last night (rerun from last week, run real late down here) and he was really funny talking about Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. He said neither one has ever picked up a check in their lives, both as cheap as they come according to Charles. Jordan won't play golf with him anymore because his swing is so pathetic Jordan is afraid it might be contagious.

He hasn't gambled for a year he says and he paid back The Wynn whatever it was he owed them. He also lost 30 pounds by taking up boxing but still needs to drop another 50.

Funny son of gun.

I work for a newspaper and many years ago, me and another guy covered a Bucks-76ers playoff game. After the game, my co-worker, who probably weighed 325 or so, was standing in a group around Barkley in the locker room, when Rick Mahorn walked past and made some crack about my co-worker's weight.
Barkley heard it, stopped whatever comment he was making to the reporters and made Mahorn come back and apologize.
Thought that was classy on Barkley's part.

Here's Barkley's latest quote:
"I can’t screw up Alabama. We are No. 48 in everything — and Arkansas and Mississippi aren’t going anywhere."Former hoops star Charles Barkley, in an interview with CNN’s Campbell Brown, said that 2014 will be the year that he runs for governor in his native Alabama.

Gotta love the chuckwagon. Always disliked him as a player (mostly because my best friend thought he was God himself), but he's the best studio guy in sports today.

I remember a game where Phoenix was playing a not very good team at home. The other team was surprisingly about to pull off a win until Phoenix went to Barkley 4 times in a row in the last two minutes and he went 4-4 shooting to pull out a close one.

After the game he said of the other team " They a good team, but they aint got The Chuckster to go to." :aktion033

Charles is cool. People think he is like that all the time, but he is not. When we hung for a bit, he was super chill.

While I won't go as far as to say I actually hung out with him, I got to meet Charles once and he was a super nice guy in person.
