My niece just got a scholarship offer to this school. Is it known for scholars or partiers?

When I was looking for undergrad, I visited the school. Very rural area, beautiful campus, and a heavy emphasis on greek life. The education is supposedly great, but it depends what social life your niece is looking for. It wasn't for me since I wanted something more urban and livelier, which the area really didn't have to offer. This was 6 years ago though.

What does she want to study? If it is strictly based on academics-short list Vandy, Duke, Rice. Rice is considered a very good school.

Rice and Stanford are the tops in engineering.

Duke is good as are the rest of the list.

she lives on the skirts of nashville and didnt want to go to Vandy because its too close to home. I personally think she screwed the pooch by not going there. She wants to go into pre-med.
