Anyone have an insider knowledge or any indications of how business is right now for these offshore sportsbooks?

Gambling is recession proof.

The main problem with sportsbooks offshore is the processor problems right now.

They will continue to lose on the bottom line as long as processor problems get worse and worse.

Sorry george but your wrong here. I give up Bookmaking in the 1990 recession because things got so bad. The reality of Bookmaking is they dont rely on degenerate Gamblers who are Idiots but stable, well earning recreational Punters who I found were the first to knock gambling on the head. The bottom line is Bookmaking goes hand in hand with the average Persons life style. :drink:

I opened shop in 94 in the heart of the silicon valley and was a cash cow as money was tight an the guys lost their asses.

Hind sight I'm figuring that they couldn't afford to lose and made them playing not to lose if you know what i mean.

Then came the good times and guys were making money hand over fist and my margin dropped significantly.

I remember meeting a friend of a friend giving him 6k after paying him the week before and him bragging he has a 12k commission check in his wallet his wife knows nothing about...

Just a theory and sure posting up makes things harder in the hard times.

i can tell you processor problems are going to get alot worse in the next couple of months.

banks reported to the fed and the fed said they need to go back and relook at these things again.

so the consultant teams are getting ready to go in and ensure absolute compliance... either december or january.... so if you need to send money offshore you better do so now as the options will be more limited next year.

You have to have the money first in order to postup. I think it must down bigtime offshore, but I can't prove it.

B&M casinos are certainly down, not sure why offshore books would not also be.

the economy hasnt helped things but when its hard to get money offshore you arent going to get as many of the 50-500 bettors everyone wants...

fact of the matter is...if you could deposit with a credit card still...lots of people would be retiring and going to Thailand

States are reporting a "surge" in lottery ticket sales during the last couple of months. People are going to bet on football no matter what.

The thing is with Bookmaking, stupid Losers do their very little Cash in no time, then disappear for a few Weeks and come back play out the same stuck record, however although their losers they are not the ones who affect your business as you never can depend on them. The high rollers tend to duck and dive between Books and personally I hated them as I might be the one bearing the winning run.

So the real bread and butter was the well earning, happy to lose, no chasing clients who had no problem losing a not significant amount week after week. Because of their conservative leanings these were the very People who pulled their horns in when everyone was saying things were dodgy and as they were the majority, it hits what you would consider a recession proof business. :drink:

real gamblers are at the tables

lottery is something everyone will play...

sports gamblers are a different breed

They are more likely to use a local now, though, IMO !

I'd also guess deposit size is lower.
