What did we do before the internet?

Thats not a problem for me as the Net hit in just as I had given up the going out late nights syndrome, so I dont know how it would affect me going back some Years. Looking at my Nephews and Nieces it seems its an individual thing where some are on the net 24 Hours and others hardly at all.

The talk on these Forums are very alike the old days standing around in Betting Shops, is there a difference between sitting in a betting shop all day talking bollocks and sitting on the PC and talking bollocks. :drink:

Went to the track a lot

Went to the card room a lot

Went to Tahoe a lot

Went to the bars and chased tail a lot

Played home games of poker a lot

A lot of rails

A lot of concerts

Called my bookie daily but that was post marriage when I found one,not that I was looking when single.

In other words was a pretty good time.

hung out at liquor store/bookie joint type of place..being at home is convenient but i do miss some of that bullshit.

Went to the library on a regular basis. Mailed letters to people. Used a dictionary every once in a while. Played Atari. Went outside every so often, instead of every few days like now. Read newspapers. Played football and basketball with other people that I had met in real life.. Had friends. Lots of porno mags. I could go on and on.

What did we do before microwaves is what I want to know.

I read printed handicapping materiel.

Subscribed to The Sporting News, The Gold Sheet, their Confidential Kick Off weekly letter. The Sports Reporter, USA Today, Northcoast Sports Preseason football publication by Phil Steele, and occasionally Winning Points all by mail and several big city dailies at a newsstand (especially for The Daily Pitching Form).

Also used books by the late Bob McCune to help handicap day in and day out. Back then The Sporting News was indespensible for capping bases because of their stats.
