George Karl said that getting rid of Carmelo was like "popping a blister."

"Carmelo was a true conundrum for me in the six years I had him," Karl wrote in "Furious George," according to an advance copy obtained by the New York Post. "He was the best offensive player I ever coached. He was also a user of people, addicted to the spotlight and very unhappy when he had to share it.
"He really lit my fuse with his low demand of himself on defense. He had no commitment to the hard, dirty work of stopping the other guy."

</aside>Karl coached Anthony from January 2005 to February 2011, when Anthony had his demand for a trade fulfilled and joined the Knicks. Karl said the trade was "a sweet release for the coach and the team, like popping a blister."
Fired by the Nuggets after the 2012-13 season, Karl served as an ESPN analyst before returning to the sideline with the Kings. An acrimonious season and a half in Sacramento ended with Karl's firing after the 2015-16 campaign. Karl, who has also coached the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Seattle SuperSonics and Milwaukee Bucks, has a career record of 1,175-824.
The coach was also critical of J.R. Smith and Kenyon Martin, comparing those two, along with Anthony, to "the spoiled brats you see in junior golf and junior tennis."
Karl wrote that Smith, who is now with the Cavaliers, had "a huge sense of entitlement, a distracting posse, his eye always on the next contract and some really unbelievable shot selection."

Classic JEEM. Used to have so much fun with that guy. I cried when Brownie died.

Now there's talk of Carmelo possibly going to the Clippers or Celtics.

I sure as hell hope he doesn't end up in Boston.

"Then, of course, there are the Carmelo Anthony trade talks. The Knicks have had discussions about potential Anthony trades with at least three teams (Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers)."

I'm not a big melo fan but think he would be ok in right situation. Phil Jackson has handled him and the Knicks terribly. I actually think Boston would be good for him and the C's

The kind of offense I like is not the Carmelo way. I.e. like Phil said, Carmelo likes to hold the ball, and ends up stalling the offense.

He wont be able to do that in Boston. Isiah will still own the ball....but Melo is one hell of a scorer on the wing and I like him for Boston and the Clippers. Boston is very good but I don't think they can beat the cavs as they are currently.....with Melo, I think they can. Just my opinion.

Hopefully Boston or LAC doesn't give up too much for him. He could be effective on both, but not if they deplete the team.

Isaiah Thomas is the worst defender in the NBA. Carmelo is one of the worst defenders in the NBA. How does Boston beat Cleveland with those two in the lineup?

I'm a huge Boston fan, but they'd get crushed.

I'd be surprised if they got more than 1 game in a playoff series against Cleveland (with Carmelo).
