Thinking about getting a flat screen. If I am mainly watching sports what should I get? LCD or Plasma? Looking to get a 37" or 40". Plasma sounds better but I am concerned about burn in.

Yes I have several windows but the shades are normally drawn. I don't like alot of light when I am watching TV due to the glare.

From what I have read Plasma has better picture but the burn in concerns me.

The glare and reflections are really annoying on a plasma.

I have a Sony LCD. The only thing I don't like about it is that some stations have "motion blur". That's when the pixels blur during fast sporting events. It's only on a few stations but it's annoying when it happens.

Get a Sony LCD and get it as big as your budget will allow. If you get 37" you'll want more in no time at all.

I agree with what everyone has said thus far.

LCD is the far better option, and the Sony Bravia series is essentially the best on the market today for a realistic budget.

I used to have several plasmas that I would leave on a lot, and soon had problems with severe burn in. Today, I would never go back to plasma, for that and other reasons.

Also agree with what Legend said about getting the biggest size you can afford. I originally had a 46" but soon wanted "bigger and better", so I upgraded this year to the 52" Bravia model. You wouldn't think it would be that big of a difference, but it really was night and day. I now use the old 46" in the bedroom where it works out perfectly with the room size.

If you ever need help with finding a good projector, I can help on that end as well. I use a Epson projector. Great if you are looking to create a "theater" atmosphere or just for general viewing if you can get the room dark enough and want a large/huge picture (120"+). You also have to get a decent screen in addition to the projector.

Get a LCD 1080P with 120Hertz and Auto motion picture 4ms response rate. Watching movies will never be the same for you. LCD is also better for rooms with glares (everything but a basement) Best model LCD for the price is a samsung series 7.

i have a panasonic 42" plasma and i love it! my father in law has a 50" and a 42" panasonic plasma and they are amazing HOWEVER... my suggestion, if you are putting the tv in a room where there is a lot of light and reflections... go with LCD

if you are putting it in a "mancave" or something, go with plasma (i would highly recomment panasonic)

Denny is dead on. I got a 60" Samsung and a 52" LG for the bedroom. LG makes a hell of a TV. talked to many repair men and they say it is the lowest "call in" of any model.

Great thread. I am just starting to look into this too.

I have a regular 36 inch TV which I will put down in the play room, and I am probably going to be looking for a new flatscreen for my livingroom.

Thinking like 46 inch High Def.
