Anyone here own a business and just cause you own a business they think product falls off trees out back and doesn't cost anything to make it?

The nerve of some people, or maybe it's just the people I associate with

No, It's the same why over here. But it's my wife who caves in.
I tell her all the time, at least charge them Cost :ohno:

I don't want to make money on Family, but I don't want to LOSE money either.
Give them One, and they will take TEN

Making money on family doesn't bother me. Hell, I pay them pretty good for contract work, and they still think they are entitled to free shit for some reason

this is an interesting topic

my experiences with this are nothing but bad w/regards 'great friends/friends'.

they take advantage of the friendship and then walkaway when their balance gets too high...so then when you cut 'em a break on the 1st break you gave 'em...they screw you some more.

there are very few 'friends' when it comes to business. just partners and clients/customers.

Tell me about it. Every acquaintance i have feels that they should be able to get a deal on their packages. i have no problem letting family use my service, but friends noo way. you would think they would want to contribute and give their friend some business...not the case...they look for every way to try and get something for free or half off. one of my biggest pet peeves

Relatives/friends see you have a business, so you must have money. Thats why they do it.

Great timing for this thread. Just got a phone call from a friend who took a new job working for a large company, and told them she had a friend who would "hook them up" with some discounted and high quality catering without asking me first.

So of course I get a call asking what percentage discount I am offering them on catered corporate events. Now THAT is shitty when a multi-million dollar company is bartering with a small catering company because of a dumb friend of yours.

I have friends and family ask me my rates and act surprised when I tell them and don't offer my services free. Nothing but trouble.
