Maybe I've been around too long but it seems as if Det. plays above their heads on Thanksgiving. One other thing, I always look for the game that is a team's "Super Bowl" for the year. I may be way off base, but public perception is Tenn is Super Bowl contender and Det. may go winless. Detroit gets sky high for this game and Tenn wishes they were home with their families instead of working on Thanksgiving. A Detroit victory would not surprise me nor would a Tenn blowout. For me a small wager on Det. on a 10 pt. teaser with Dal and Philly and a tiny bit on Det. ML just to say I did it if they win. I look at it this way, which team will leave it all on the field today? Which team would risk injury to win it? To me that is Detroit. May also play em a little first half because as mentioned earlier, quite possible Det. comes out on fire and peters out during the game. Just don't underestimate the power of the teams that always play on Thanksgiving against those that don't, especially when one needs a victory not to go down in history as winless. JMO. :wink:
I think you quote could fit in the area of Barry Sanders, Thanksgiving games looked disaster for Detroit lately in last 10 years. Show me how many game they won in Thanksgiving in those years, and how many games they covered. I think you heard about the glory of home team play in this holiday but you did not bet on this games yet.
No you're right they haven't played well like they used to. But I factored in the fact that they have been putting up points especially early in games lately. Tenn. is not going to care much about this game and give Det. a forum where the whole country is watching, like today on a traditional Thanksgiving, and I think they surprise. Professional football players should, and I emphasize SHOULD have enough pride to do whatever it takes not to go winless and with Tenn on a short schedule too, fully expecting to dominate the game, I think it may set up for Det, to be sky high, punch em in the nose a few times and watch Tenn start thinking about next week and the playoffs. Again, they could get blown out by 30 but I think they at least hang in there early, hence the 1st half bet as a bit of a hedge. I've been wrong before and I'm sure I'll be wrong again, but to me this is Det's chance to show America on one given day .....
